Popular Post clokwise
My next door neighbour is a tourist police captain, his house is modest but he loves his fancy sports cars, of which he owns several, though I've never seen him drive any of them. He employs a younger police officer whose entire job seems to be constantly washing and polishing his car collection plus driving his wife and kid around town. Nice work if you can get it.

Saltire
This story reminds me of the Netflix series Cocaine Cowboys, where two Cuban immigrants became both notorious, and ridiculously rich drug smugglers. Their biggest problem was spending or laundering the tens of millions in cash. Let's buy one more car? Joe Ferrari = King Pin or maybe assistant King Pin.
Popular Post OneMoreFarang
I think the most amazing thing about stories like this is that people pretend to be surprised about the "unusual" wealth of police officers and other officials. He has the nickname Joe Ferrari, on a 43k salary. How did he explain that? Or was it not necessary to explain this to anybody because everybody knew? And that house and all those cars: Was he always alone at home? Or had he visitors from time to time? And did anybody of them ever thought how he bought the house and all the cars? It's one thing to be corrupt and rich, it's another thing to do it so blatantly in the open. And nobody gives a s$#$. TiT.

Popular Post tomacht8
Is a criminal syndicate and there are many of them. The police here are an untouchable state within the state. Many police officers own luxury cars, luxury houses, luxury watches, huge land blocks, resorts, antiques, go-go bars, discos, apartment buildings, shopping centers, stocks, gold chains, jewels, foreign accounts. If a powerfull Institution were to check the origin of the assets of the top 1000 in detail, probably no one would be able to conclusively explain where the money comes from legally. Murder, extortion, drug trafficking, human trafficking, prostitution, misappropriation of fines, falsification of reports to mitigate punishment, and cash for advancement in the service rank are the most common sources of income. Thailand have many more Jo Ferraris. 3
Popular Post Misterwhisper
Extortion, blackmailing, bribery, bullying, embezzlement, human trafficking, pimping, drug dealing, torture, rape, murder -- when you have a police force that ROUTINELY engages in all of this and more, from the top brass down to the lowest-ranking officers, you really don't have space for regular career criminals anymore. And the army is not one iota better. And make no mistake... this vile murder was NOT an isolated incident. It happens every single day on a more or less grand scale everywhere in the kingdom, the vast majority of these cases being successfully swept under the carpet. That this disgusting and deeply disturbing video came to light at all must be put down to sheer luck. My guess is that the officer who allegedly shot the clip has been bullied and indeed ordered by his superior on numerous previous occasions to participate in a long list of highly criminal activities and finally just had had enough. Taking the clip and making it public was his chance to escape the situation in which he was caught up for god knows how long. If you are an officer who has even the slightest shred of conscience and tiniest bit of moral compass left, you are having a very hard time in this so-called "law enforcement agency", where, so it seems, almost everybody is involved in criminal activities at least to some extent. It is not appropriate to 'break someone's rice bowl'. It's a mafia state where it is dangerous to go against these people, you can wind up dead very easily even if you are a Westerner. We are fair game too now. Note that all the journos (local Thais and expats) that have pursued stories against Police and Army have had to leave Thailand due to threats to themselves and their families. Starts from the government down, they have a convicted drug smuggler and alleged murderer in a ministerial position. And to the readership here: please stop taking this country seriously. It is still very underdeveloped and will continue to be so for decades. Hopefully the youth keep digging in and force change. Education is key. A few years back, a poll was performed here in Thailand. The question was "Would you engage in corruption if the outcome benefited you personally?". If memory serves, 72% of Thais said they would. When the figures were broken down further, the under-25's polled 77% that they would engage in corruption. I think putting your faith in youth and education is logical, but mistaken.

Basically was in with all the criminals and dealers and would be given a bust to make him look amazing by the dealers and I’m sure a nice lump sum of cash . All the while the other 10 loads would be delivered to their destination without a problem as everyone would be looking at the poor sod fed to the police and praising the young super cop ! There must be more senior cops implicated in this. You can't survive for long as a rogue operator in the police. They have to pay upfront for their positions and and pay monthly rent. This guy wasn't discrete, so it was well known he was making a lot of money and, if he didn't allow enough of it to flow up the pipe, he would have been reassigned to a poor rural district in Isaan. 3

Her response was virtually that she found it kind of an acceptable practice because it happens in many police forces ! It appears as most know extortion and corruption are so entrenched here that it is acceptable by their standards and any honest person who speaks up against such practices should well know their life is in danger a very sad fact ! It is like the 3 wise monkeys hear no evil speak no evil see no evil A lot of people have complained about plastic bag torture by Thai police. You can see in the full length video clip that cops were walking in and out while the murder was in progress. They just came to have a look at the man thrashing about in his death thoes while being held down on the floor and went off about their business. Clearly an everyday affair for them. The only thing remakable about is that a cop took huge personal risk to blow the whistle. I would nt' be surprised to read that he has had a nasty accident in future. 5
