Is this forum going Stale

I understand that this forum is primarily about Thailand--but it seems that we are not able to talk about any really important  events happening around the world that affect us.

Most of us come from a country that after a 20 years war---- we lost. Obviously headlines TV everywhere -but, seems not a subject to be discussed  here.

But--I can tell you about a guy in a Moo Barn up country who punched hi wife after drinking Lao khao

A large oil producing country --has announced that it will change  its currency to Bitcoin---what does that mean to the people investing in it--- how can you do this when its an internet currency.

Or-- Have you heard about the lady from Barn Nok? who has found a likeness to Buddha on her slice of toast?

There's a guy in the UK who is 7th in line to the throne is apparently wanted by the FBI for questioning relating to rape allegations.

& so on.........

If you are going to tell me that can post anything-- then you either haven't posted or gone to look at the options.

I truly understand that the proprietors have to cover their A$$s-sets, so in some (Thai) forums there is a delay in your post--while Mods check it.

Cuts down in any quick repartee---not that you see to much of that on here anyway.

Some might think that maybe people are not interested in whats happening outside of Thailand.? ---

I like the arrangements here for discussion --- if the subject doesn't have a lot of interest it just sinks to the bottom.

As this one might do..........

Anyway-My rant--Over, back to where I contribute the most--The Joke page...................:coffee1:

Didn't they have an International Forum once (might be my imagination).

I recall Brexit, for the Brit expats, being very lively.

I see it was stopped but just started again.

There is a "Home Country Forum", might try that.

World News

This forum will not be updated after 31 March 2021..

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Its a big scary world out there........................:w00t:

No. TVF / AN is focused on Asean & maintaining high standard of regional Comments & News. Using this forum principally about life in thailand with occasional conversations about larger intl. issues like freedom, democracy, non- thai politics, etc.

Use You Tube for Independent Opinion/ News Videos & Daily Mail / BBC Website for Worldwide / UK News / Sport/ Tech etc. Addicted to the DM colourful column format.DM Articles have interesting Comments too.

Yes. Sadly and dully

Stale = possibly.....Or matured/ mellowed...

It's the middle of a pandemic with world wide lock downs....No air traffic bringing new recuits....

The at riskers either can't get here to flit in and out, have died off from boredom - or their bad habits, the party palaces are shuttered, or they've settled down....

Novels, PI women, jabs, & general dissatisfaction are the latest hot topics....

Possibly the gardening & landscaping forums are booming away....

Yeah, it's mellowed out....

Just last night I saw that an old post about the merits or otherwise of Joe Biden had been reopened, and many of the posters from the time of Trumps election and demise, are back posting. It had been opened for a while.

Not surprised they have reintroduced this because, with the exception of Covid posts which for many are boring, posting seems to have significantly decreased. Some prominent posters have gone to a different site too.  Especially those that love their conspiracy theories.

Just posted a topic under this forum.....on the Heath and Social Care bill, England.

Not seen it come up yet, but maybe the moderators have to scrutinize it first.

I agree with the OP 100%.

It is also very slow on even the most topical threads, and is obvious on the 'polls' - not many here now?

I would also add there are some former, frequent posters conspicuous by their recent absence, won't name names but I fear they have jumped ship to an alternate forum and not told us ????

I don't think anyone was suggesting otherwise-- blackcab, just commenting on some forums (insurance) that are open to any subject.

Most Thai nationals don't know or care about anything going on outside of Thailand... Why should this forum be any different?

You feel this forum is mainly read by Thai Nations BobinBKK.??

Sadly the World News part of the forum was discontinued. Don't know what to make of the recent "resurgence" but it's just one old thread, no new threads have been added since March 23rd.

A real shame because so much is happening around the world that affects us all. They blamed it on the cost of getting news articles posted (correct me if I'm wrong) but why can't they just let members start threads and link to articles in the international press (while following forum rules)?

Not looking good...no sign of my new topic???

Probably because this forum is tailored to expats and foreigners with an interest in Thailand and other ASEAN nations.

I first came to this forum seeking Visa advice....thought it was only about Visa's as named ThaiVisa.  Ubonjoe still here giving excellent VIsa advice, which is always appreciated

Plenty of other fun stuff and people posting their opinions and comments

Wow Skallywag, that sort of answer takes me back to the 70s.........

I just need the beads, and a lot of my hair back.......... ????

I think eventually members here find some niches they like and post in those and avoid any real serious topics. We can't talk about the truth about Thailand here and probably some other topics as you said. It is what it is, just like Thailand.
