PHUKET: The latest Phuket Provincial Public Health Office (PPHO) daily COVID situation report has marked 235 new local infections confirmed across the island yesterday (Sept 17) bringing the total number of people recognised as infected with COVID-19 in Phuket since Apr 3 to 8,297.

The PPHO report, marked as accurate as of 11:15pm last night, reported no new infections among Sandbox tourist arrivals.

The report also marked no new deaths attributed to COVID-19, leaving the COVID death toll in Phuket in the past week at 15, and the total number of deaths in Phuket attributed to COVID-19 since Apr 3 at 48. Twenty-three of those deaths occurred this month.

Cases are Irrelevant. Bet they dont include the Sea Gypsy Concentration Camp at Rawai Pier with 1000 or so people 100% infected in tight “incubator” community. They must have spread it all over the island.Significant is that half the Phuket covid deaths since April occurred this month.

Indicates rapidly increasing Delta death rate of unvaxxed and low effect of Sinovac on Delta…….

Hell of a good question!

Maybe some of the sandbox apologists can offer an opinion?

We all know two donkey wee from the CCP is of no use except for stuffing brown envelopes- and now AZ is being off loaded. Look at the UK - moving to MRNA as a booster even though the UK has massive AZ manufacturing capacity. All the Pfizer they are now about to waste on healthy children should be going to the old/sick Thais who were given CCP junk.

1600+ cases per week approximately, schools closed, island population double vaxed with Sinovac - deep red !

The southern success story carries on.

Only 235.

How they play the game lol.

All last year, there were less than 5000 infected in all of Thailand and now, this is achieved in 2 days in Phuket alone.

What a success.

The dream of the Sandbox must be kept alive.

Pfizer used in UK only where blood clotting risk is (slightly) higher with AZ like women aged 30-40 , or as a Booster when known that such mixing is ( slightly) more effective than 3rd AZ. This is optimizing an already incredible AZ , not “moving away”from AZ which in fact is overall the most effective vax of all.

Think you slipped a zero there. 500 in 2 days in Phuket

Unfortunately, when all the planning went into the Sandbox, no consideration was given to the fact that although Phuket is an Island, and any Covid from outside of the Island could be prevented from going in, any Covid that was on the Island prior to the Sandbox opening has stayed on the Island because it cannot escape.

All that the Covid Virus can do under these conditions is to keep going around and around within a sealed Community.

The UK is moving to Mrna boosters as the majority have already had AZ so giving extra protection from both types, not because AZ is no good, Phukets problem is most have had a poor vaccine.

My point being if AZ was still the vax of choice in the UK boosters would be by AZ. This is not the case. So, although we know how poor Chinese vaccines are, maybe AZ is also looking fragile...
