Before the end of September, Thailand will be administering one million vaccine doses per day, the DDC chief Opas Karnkawinpong said.

Anutin made that prediction for the month of August, lets see if one of his advisors get its near the mark. I would hazard a guess that it may be possible in Oct when the also start the inoculation of 12 years and up students so long as they have the necessary health personal.

I would like to think if the numbers continue in this direction, re-opening schools might be brought forward!

Sure. Schools will open for one week and close again. Number of new cases will continue to go flat, up and down a bit until winter and cold weather kicks in and then up again. I just hope the vaccination program will be successful and that there will be less hospital admissions.

What about kids below 12?  No one is seriously considering vaccinating them (as far as I know).  If teachers and staff are vaccinated, I don't see why they can't go back now!

Not as far as I know at the moment, its not happening in the UK anyway............who knows in the future?

Just saw in another thread. 24th Sept is 1 million day apparently..........

"Dr Opas said an event will be held by public health officials on September 24 which will mark the milestone of vaccinating one million people in a single day. This will also include public health officials and volunteers being given a third booster dose."

Only if they retain the policy of closing the whole school if there's a single infection.  Hopefully, they will adopt a more realistic policy.  Covid is here to stay, but kids need to go to school.

Cambodia is the only country I've heard where children as young as 6 - 12 yrs are being vaccinated with Sinovac

Thailand desperate for tourists following COVID slump

At the start of September, officials eased local lockdowns, including in the capital Bangkok in order to boost business, despite infection rates remaining high.

The move signals a tactical shift from authorities who are now hoping to keep the contagion at manageable levels and return to normalcy.

So despite the alarming coronavirus caseload, Thailand is pressing ahead with plans to extend its 'Sandbox' initiative to more provinces, which include the capital Bangkok, the northern city of Chiang Mai, and beach resorts like Pattaya, Cha-An and Hua Hin.

Plenty of vaccines ordered.

From penny pinching to betting the farm on every vaccine known to mankind.

Anyone who thinks this rolling nightmare will be over anytime soon, is going to be very disappointed.

77 districts with the power to make individual knee jerk decisions is a recipe for disaster.

Think you mean provinces.

Not splitting hairs, but "According to the National Statistical Office, in 2000, Thailand had 76 provinces, 795 districts, 81 subdistricts, 7,255 communes, and 69,866 villages. Two districts have been created since the 2000 census."

I note again today with this MOPH chart, that the 1,190 + infected Inmates of a Young Offenders Institute in Nikhom Si Thammarat province have not been added to the totals for a second Day running.

Seems we have a mis-reporting, the same as the Chicken Factory outbreak that was never reported.

And there has been an increase of 134 more inside the same facility reported taday.

When there are what appears to be deliberate massaging of the numbers, its very difficult to believe anything at all from this MOPH information Chart.

It would appear reporting has reverted back to the same as the early stage of the outbreak back in April.
