Popular Post webfact Posted September 19, 2021 Popular Post Posted September 19, 2021 By Adam Judd Pattaya, Thailand-Pattaya City leaders have begun tentative, preliminary planning for weekend events in November and December, but have stressed that none of the events yet are “set in stone” due to the Covid-19 situation and are subject to change. This follows multiple social media websites and pages posting dates for big events, such as the Fireworks Festival, on November 26th and 27th of this year. TPN media notes that this date is NOT final and official and is merely a preliminary, unofficial proposal. According to sources at City Hall that TPN media have spoken with, there have been preliminary planning, proposals, and discussions around multiple events, including the popular fireworks festival, New Years Countdown, food festivals, Loy Krathong, and more. However, none of these have yet been “officially” announced through PR Pattaya and are unlikely to be official until the situation with Covid-19 and restrictions set by the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration, or CCSA, become clearer in the next several weeks. full story: https://thepattayanews.com/2021/09/19/pattaya-would-like-to-hold-fireworks-festival-loy-krathong-festival-and-other-events-in-the-next-several-months-but-no-final-decisions-yet/ -- © Copyright The Pattaya News 2021-09-20 - Whatever you're going through, the Samaritans are here for you - Follow ASEAN NOW on LINE for breaking COVID-19 updates 1 1 2

Firework shows attract spectators with money to spend on food, hotels, etc. If it's the lack of Pattaya visitors that caused them to be unemployed/hungry/homeless, you'd think this is the start of a good thing. 3
internationalism Posted September 20, 2021 Posted September 20, 2021 a strange hesitation, as country is clearly opening now, even to international tourists 1
kinyara Posted September 20, 2021 Posted September 20, 2021 I think it's too early to propose holding these events, sure they attract local tourists but I think they would have more beneficial impact delaying them and having a Pattaya re-opening promotional blitz in the lead up to Songkran. The timing is just not right, but I daresay the public interest isn't the only factor at play in these large budget events.
Popular Post mikebell Posted September 20, 2021 Popular Post Posted September 20, 2021 But you have to be home for 9pm. 1 3
Harveyboy Posted September 20, 2021 Posted September 20, 2021 yep come to all our events ..but you can't drink a beer and you must be tucked up in bed for 9 pm Enjoy your stay in LOS 2
Popular Post Emdog Posted September 20, 2021 Popular Post Posted September 20, 2021 Instead of fireworks, how about burning another bar on sea side of Walking Street? 1 3

Who actually pays for them? It is usually a very popular and well attended event.. i always book into a hotel for it.

redwood1 Posted September 21, 2021 Posted September 21, 2021 Last year they were making a big big deal about having these events for domestic tourist......A huge red carpet roll-out for domestic folks.......And now?........Hardly anything is said about domestic tourist any more...... 1
ArcticFox Posted September 21, 2021 Posted September 21, 2021 Pattaya would like to hold Fireworks Festival, Loy Krathong festival, and other events in the next several months but no final decisions yet Sorry! Fun is now illegal except for Hi-Sos and their ilk. 2

Lucky Bones Posted September 21, 2021 Posted September 21, 2021 Fantastic. I "would like" to have a good time with Madonna. But it ain't gunna happen. Feed the hungry or fix the pavements first. Fireworks, so yesterday.

It was packed..... and very much highlighted the parking failures, especially around T21. Social distancing was out the window and non-Thai Asians hawkers were mixing with people on the beach. (At that time the infection numbers in our neighbours was a concern). I expect to do it again in November!

But, likely still massive traffic jams when it is over. Always a very popular event.
skorp13 Posted September 22, 2021 Posted September 22, 2021 So you can go to a music festival or vegetarian festival but not a fireworks display or traditional loy krathong? OMB

If they don't spend the money on fireworks, would the hungry, unemployed and homeless see any of it? I don't think so. Rich people saving money doesn't help the poor. The world's 2,365 billionaires enjoyed a $4 trillion boost to their wealth during the first year of the pandemic. An increase in wealth of 54%. The rich are loving it.
