Aerox 155 R Front end excessive wobbling

Featured Replies

I just had my (2017 model year) Aerox serviced and mentioned the front end began excessive wobbling a year or so after owning. Technician indicated that this was a common problem with this  model and no real fix available. I'm curious as to how common this issue is with other Aerox owners and if they have found a solution or contacted Yamaha motors directly to see what responses they are getting from the manufacturer.

You found a Technician in Thailand well done.

Tell him to fix it then.

No offense but are you a big person that sits back further on the scoot.

Tyres out shape is one cause.

The balance of the front wheel and tire is off.

Incorrect tyre pressure usually the problem in Thailand they over inflate tyres as a rule which can cause wobble.

A suspension problem could a wobble too.

Have you checked the wheel bearings? Put the bike on the centre stand, chock or weight it so that it sits on its tail and try and waggle the front wheel to see if there is any play in it.

I do not believe what your 'technician' said about this being a common problem. These bikes have a solid reputation.

OP

if you happen to be in Pattaya,

can hook you up with ver good mechanic.

Typical mechanic response "they all do that". No problems with my Aerox.

Over tight headstock bearings could cause a wobble.

Put the bike on main stand, the handle bars should just fall on they own when turned left or right,if loose they will drop quickly ,if tight they will not drop or drop slowly .

But I would say low tyre pressure or wheel bearings.

Never trust the mechanics / techs....  they always seem to want to jump to a quick conclusion without any investigation.

Slightly related: last week had a knocking sound from the front right of the car when going over bumps, put the car in to be checked, they replaced something, returned the car, I test drove, no improvement at all, they said I was going over the bumps too quickly !!!!.... I refused to accept the car, insisted they investigate further, they did and found that the engine mount had broken. Fixed that, the car is fine...   >> thats just one of many tales of poor quality mechanics jumping to the wrong conclusion - thus, with the bike, have them check everything, test ride the bike, do not accept the bike back until they have fixed the problem.
