Given the recent COVID situation, Brazil might be a bit dicey, depending on where and how one lives there

I used to live in Ipatinga in MG state. Belo Horizonte might be OK.

Looks a nice place to be!  Spent a lot of time in Brasil, mainly in the South. Curitiba and Joinville especially pleasant. However, the friendliest place I found was Seabra in Bahia State. Fortunately, never needed any medical treatment anywhere so cannot comment.

Further to my original reply on CM Thailand and Costa Rica. Just found out Costa Rica open to tourists since August. Entry insurance requirements; $50,000 cover or the Governments own Insurance cover of $20,000, for those with the double jab vac.

In light of the recent kerfuffle over insurance requirements even for O visa retirement extenders returning to Thailand under the new Thailand Pass, it seems a good time to bump this topic.

Before I have stated and I continue to believe it that there are locations in Mexico that are quite safe crime wise including cartel crime.

But there is some recent bad news.

Personally I have never promoted the Riviera Maya (the coast with Cancun) and there have been some major cartel incidents in that area over the years (as opposed to the Yucatan city of Merida).

But it's quite popular. Indeed the vloggers Vagabond Awake recently named Puerto Morelos as their top budget retirement pick in the world.

Well, uh oh.

Mexico has safety issues, but then again, so does the US.  And many other countries.  I'm hoping next year to scout out Lake Chapala and San Miguel de Allende.  Perhaps Guanajuato.  Might even scoot down towards Puerto Escondido.  We'll see...it all depends on covid.

I dont know better but no matter where I go I have to take myself with me. In addition age became a health problem.

Italy will suffice,

Japan even better.
