October 5, 20214 yr Hello. I live in Thailand long time but have job outside thailand (so not have work permit). Stay by family visa and have thai child. Can i buy a used car with down payment about 30% and finance from bank / shop somewhere in Pattaya / Bangkok?
October 5, 20214 yr You would need, at the very least some collateral, proof of income and a Thai guarantor. And like I say, at the very least. I rate your chances at next to zero from what you've said.
October 6, 20214 yr Your wife 'might' be able to get the loan, if the bank/shop will accept your guaranty of the loan.

October 6, 20214 yr At the minimum you would need a work permit, work stubs for two years, and collateral being a foreigner. Banks Don't lend on used cars as a rule of thumb.

October 7, 20214 yr As always in Thailand things can vary wildly from place to place and region etc. In my experience with a deposit of 30% done in a Thai name, with good credit etc, there is little to no resistance on new or used. October 7, 20214 yr Not sure how much is the used car but I rather saved up until I can buy a used car with cash.

With the availability of multiple ride sharing apps (e.g grabs and bolts), I felt less and less need for a car unless you have a family. A motor bike can serve for quick run around in the back alleys to 7/11, laundromat if needed, or nere by places.
