Popular Post piston broke Posted October 9, 2021 Popular Post Posted October 9, 2021 I'm a member of several Facebook bike groups, both here in Pattaya and in other countries...... Why is it that so many "blokes" get a new bike and bung on a "loud" exhaust and a tail tidy - and then grin and bear it for the sake of vanity, when the bike runs lean / pops like mad and water gets sprayed up their back when it rains ? maybe they think people who look at them when they ride past are thinking "i wish i was him" ..... 3 9
Popular Post grain Posted October 9, 2021 Popular Post Posted October 9, 2021 Little macho men, they have a 100cc plastic moped and they make it as noisy as possible and pretend they're riding a Harley-Davidson. 11 3 3

The answer is easy to understand they like to personalize their bikes. 2. Tuning usually comes with a louder sound than OEM supplied. 3. Some tail tidies are aesthetically better looking than OEM. 4. I would agree that some take tail tidying to extremes to the point of ugly. 5. As for pops & bangs I think you refer to many Thais here who do not tune bikes when messing with their exhausts just to make them loud. 6. You can tune a bike to be loud to make a nice sound. 7. As for some of the idiot that ride here I don't think they are capable of thinking. 10 2
Rampant Rabbit Posted October 9, 2021 Posted October 9, 2021 same with the cretins who remove their rear bumpers, the damge in a small shunt will be way more expensive to fix than just a bent bumper 2

Popular Post Robin Posted October 9, 2021 Popular Post Posted October 9, 2021 Most Thai think that Noise = Power; So the nosier thy can make their puny little step-through, the more powerful nd faster it will be.. Also, i think that Thai built silencers are noisier that original equipment, and cheaper. Thai police will ignore any bike with noisy exhaust, unless desperate for some money 3

Popular Post properperson Posted October 9, 2021 Popular Post Posted October 9, 2021 Anyone who modifies an exhaust to make it louder should indeed be fined........total lack of concern for other people. If you like it then listen to it in your own living room/ Same for those blaring speakers in the back of pick-ups. 6 1 2 3

Proper motorbikes are modified to improve performance and aesthetics and done out of interest for motorbike enthusiasts. I understand there are people that find any noisy motorbike annoying IMHO it is because mostly Thais do it themselves and mess it up.

Why would anyone want to pretend to have a "macho man's HD" that most HD owners make as noisy as possible?! Is there anything good or desirable about a Harley that only serves to confirm what everyone is thinking about the rider? 3 1

I think it's easy to understand why lots of guys like to customize their bikes. And part of that is making the bike sound and look "faster". Guys with big bikes don't need to do that. But boys who can't afford big bikes want at least something that sounds like a big bike. I remember that because there was a time when I was young and I had a small bike. But being a member of several facebook groups is definitely something I don't understand... 2

My Norton . brothers Goldie circa 1965. Fantastic bike and a true riders dream but eye watering expensive now to buy a genuine one and not a fake. I had a Rocket Gold Star in full racing trim made road legal that had been raced at the IOM. It had much larger amal monoblock carbs than a standard and a very high compression ratio and was extremly fast for a road bike in those days. it used to drink fuel but fortunately I had a mate who worked at a garage selling it! On the front of the fairing 2 naked girls were painted in all their explicit glory. I wonder if you would get away with that now. Sold it for 300 quid to get married and current price for a standard one is over 20000 quid. Sorry no pics same wife destroyed them all! 3
