More than 15,000 international air passengers are expected to arrive between November 1 and 5, the Thai government said on Monday.

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) expects no less than one million foreign visitors between November 2021 and March 2022.

If each of them spend an average of 60,000 baht per trip, that would contribute to a national income of no less than 60 billion baht, they said.

  • Why don't they mandate it - order visitors to change up 60k-100k at the airport - track them ensuring the money is spent unwisely at the malls and chain restaurants - when the money is dwindling quick

I believe the keyword in that sentence is If.

  • If they can get the Thailand Pass to accept their documents, they can come.

Why don't they mandate it - order visitors to change up 60k-100k at the airport - track them ensuring the money is spent unwisely at the malls and chain restaurants - when the money is dwindling quickly whisk them back up to swampy - frisk them to make sure they're not trying to fly out with any baht tucked in their socks - grab the next batch and hustle them off to the Kasikorn kiosk and so it goes on

One problem - we come from free countries with transparent and accountable governments and we don't get led around by our own governments let alone by those of places we visit freely

From Link For 2022, TAT expects no less than 10 million foreign visitors and they are expected to generate an income of 1.5 trillion baht for the country, accounting for 50 per cent of the income before the Covid pandemic in 2019 when nearly 40 million visited the country.

OK, if we are led to believe by the TAT, 200,000 a month will come in the first 5 months (even though based on 1-5 november predictions it will be more like 80k at the most) , and then miraculously 500,000  to 1.5 million plus will arrive per month from April.  Now I'd like to know exactly what is going to change after March to increase the arrivals 400%-800% a month.

Only way that any arrivals of 500-1,000,000 a month could happen would be the total removal on hoops to get in. And as we are mostly predicting China will not come next year, where will these 10 million come from,

Lastly why are 1o million going to spend the equivalent of 20 million pre pandemic ?

Is this the Thai version of the Onion? These are some pretty far fetched figures, with the start they got today. What happens when you run out of the desperate expats and Thais coming back NO one in their right mind will jump through these hoops for something you can easily get somewhere else Newsflash no nightlife no alcohol who want to visit a Dry convent ThaiPass doesn't even work and is far too slow for the 72 hour window - They could screw up a free lunch

So, 3,000 intrepid  visitors per day.  Say 300 passengers per plane.  So, 10 planes per day?

The airport will not be exactly "swamped"....

And this one million visitors will all be high and tourists carrying $500.000 each ready to spend in 30 days.

Don't know which one is more fanciful and deluded - you or the subject matter of this thread.

I think most people have now realised that TAT is a fake prediction propaganda machine proven over and over, they would be better saying nothing

Can anyone quote one thing they have announced that was close to accurate or even 20% accurate

IMO there may be an initial influx, but soon as the social media reports of not much to do, no night entertainment, restricted booze in restaurants etc etc etc hit the ether, it's all over, bar the weeping and wailing.

I was once conned by a travel agent to visit a certain country off the coast of India, by tales of how great it was, but after two weeks in the decrepit, entertainment devoid, dirty and dangerous place I'd never ever go back and I certainly would not recommend it to anyone, except an enemy.

Similar tales may eventuate with the present situation. In the past we put up with the grot and the inefficiency because the entertainment was so great. Without that entertainment how many of us would bother?
