Popular Post webfact Posted November 2, 2021 Popular Post Posted November 2, 2021 Picture: Sanook Thai media Sanook went with the transliteration of "Welcome to Thailand" in their upbeat headline for the reopening of the country yesterday. Citing figures for passenger arrivals from the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT) from October 29th they said that 21,316 passengers would be using Thai airports on international flights in and out from November 1st to 5th. Coming in were 15,037, leaving were 6,279. Yesterday the number was 5,745, and today it would be 5,331. Wednesday to Friday the numbers were 3,893, 5,154 and 5,137. The numbers didn't add up at all but Sanook didn't worry about that. Passengers from 26 countries were set to arrive mostly at Suvarnabhumi, Phuket and Chiang Mai. (A report on ASEAN NOW yesterday suggested that only one Jeju flight would be arriving in Chiang Mai on Friday). Here are the countries from whence the tourists would be arriving (that appeared in no particular order): Singapore, Indonesia, Australia, the Philippines, Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, South Korea, Britain, Germany France, Belgium, Denmark, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, Qatar, the UAE, Netherlands, India, Israel, Austria, Russia, China, Laos and Kazakhstan. 27 airlines would be bringing the tourists. Popular Post ThailandRyan Posted November 2, 2021 Popular Post Posted November 2, 2021 Wait a minute there is another OP saying expect 13k for the week. Whose guess is correct? Why can they just not shut their flap traps and wait until the week passes and then tell us how many arrived. Stories like these just show the ineptitude of those in charge. Wishful thinking done aloud it seems. 32 1

Popular Post ezzra Posted November 2, 2021 Popular Post Posted November 2, 2021 So now they sucked us in to play the number's games of the coming and going and to where and whether it is all true of cheap publicity... 4

Popular Post dsj Posted November 2, 2021 Popular Post Posted November 2, 2021 If you average for the 5 days 5,000 passengers a day and each flight has 100 passengers then they would need 50 flights a day. If 200 passengers per flight then only 25 Flights a day, realistically I would say 50 passengers per flight, so they would need 100 flights landing in Thailand, I can't see that happening. 5

Popular Post newnative Posted November 2, 2021 Popular Post Posted November 2, 2021 A thousand here, a thousand there. It doesn't matter what the exact numbers are or whether they add up correctly. The key point is the numbers are terribly low. Back to the drawing board. 5
Popular Post Wuvu2 Posted November 2, 2021 Popular Post Posted November 2, 2021 Hmmm just a few days ago the headline read; Suvarnabhumi to welcome 30k passengers on Monday BANGKOK: The Airports of Thailand (AoT) says its six international airports are ready to welcome passengers as it expects 30,000 passengers to arrive at Suvarnabhumi airport on Monday (Nov 1), the day of the country’s reopening to foreign tourists. 2 1 6
Popular Post Jimbo2014 Posted November 2, 2021 Popular Post Posted November 2, 2021 So 2.2% of the tourists pre-pandemic. A start I suppose. 1 2
Joules Posted November 2, 2021 Posted November 2, 2021 Ha, ha, ha. Meanwhile, another post says there is not one single international hotel booking in Chiangmai. Not one! Not one! 2

We're going to get served up the in's-& out's of a dogs dinner everyday now... why do we have to be fed these statistics on a second by second basis? Or is tourism a tad more important then they're letting on, and every head counts. 3

Popular Post Pravda Posted November 2, 2021 Popular Post Posted November 2, 2021 I really want a job at TAT. I promise to promise 1 million arrivals a month until I die. I'll work for Big C vouchers. 4
Popular Post Bangkok Barry Posted November 2, 2021 Popular Post Posted November 2, 2021 From the two lead reports on Asean Now today: 1 - Citing figures for passenger arrivals from the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT).....Yesterday the number was 5,745 2 - A total of 2,424 travellers arrived in Thailand yesterday (Monday).... said Permanent Secretary at the Public Health Ministry Kiattibhoom Vongrachit. Says it all really, doesn't it. Lek the noodle seller on Suk 35 also reported that 7,945 arrived yesterday, and Nok sitting outside a market closed because of Covid said she was told the arrivals were quite high but she doesn't understand numbers. 1 3
Parsve Posted November 2, 2021 Posted November 2, 2021 Wait, they mention China. As far as I know China have blocked all tourist from leaving the country. 2

And if these figures remain as low as this for the entire " High Season ", Thailand can expect somewhere between 300 -500 K Tourists between now and the end of march. Not just back to the Drawing Board, but a whole new Team of Spin Doctors needed. 3

Of course, we see they are waiting for their projections to be correct. 7k arriving but no less than 3k arrived then 13k by the end of the week but CAAT says 15k. It is a shame they can not be all on the same page. It makes comparing the OPS pretty hilarious based on their inability to be above board. 1
