Sinovac gone?

Featured Replies

I think last month it was stated that Thailand will not order anymore Sinovac once it's supply runs out-(end of October). Has there been any news online, or government release information.

In Chiang Mai you can still get Sinovac+AZ, so it either hasn't run out or they ordered more.

But from the last announcements it looks like they are mainly going for AZ+Pfizer in Chiang Mai now.

I'm sure Grandmaster Prayut will do whatever China wants if they have more sinovax they want to get rid off he will gladly except

This would be correct.

Last week when the family enquired they had to accept sinovac + AZ.

Yesterday when they enquired (and booked) they were offered AZ + Pfizer.

Thus we would assume it's the end of sinovac.

It's what you call a endless supply ,in my area Sinovac+ AZ is all you can get. AZ+ Pfizer are for students only. It would be nice if they would reverse this crazy system.

I think there just waiting for the free Sinovac that they'll be giving out with WHO's covax program.

I can't see Thailand passing up anything free even if it's broken.

Nor should they, Sinovac is an effective vaccine against hospitalization and death  , with tens of millions of Thais still unvaccinated. Why wouldn’t they use it?

It's no good.

good grief

He probably meant to say "It's really no good."

Plenty of stock available, don't worry.

Let's see what will you say after the 3rd booster, 4th booster, 5th booster..., and when will you finally realize...

If you look at the break thru infection numbers in China vs. break thru infection numbers in US and UK, Sinovac starts looking pretty good.  Unfortunately, most people don't trust or want to understand the numbers and would rather China bash.

Also, as a middle income nation, Thailand isn't eligible for handouts from Covax.

Heres a rather confusing article regarding Thailand and Covax.

Thailand is not eligible for free vaccines. It's a middle income country. It would have to pay for the vaccines it gets from Covax.

So they haven't joined?

I haven't heard much about it so I guess not.

They've joined. That should get them access to some more vaccine. But Thailand has to pay for it.
