Popular Post Jonathan Fairfield
Anutin Charnvirakul. Reuters file photo. Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has said Sinovac is not inferior to other vaccines, adding that all vaccines save lives. Mr Anutin's comments came after it was revealed last week that he would require a fourth booster shot in order to attend a World Health Organization meeting in Switzerland later this month. Mr Anutin first received two doses of Sinovac in February, as well as a third booster of AstraZeneca. However, it has now been revealed that he would need a fourth booster shot if he was to visit Switzerland. Mr Anutin said that the reason for a fourth booster shot was not because Sinovac is somehow inferior to other vaccines. But rather was needed in order to meet entry requirements for Switzerland. He said that the issue is due to Switzerland, and other countries, not yet allowing quarantine free entry for people who have been vaccinated with Sinovac or Sinopharm. He also said that Switzerland, as well as some other countries, do not yet recognise the so-called mix and match vaccination policy which has been implemented by the Thai government. Because of this, Thailand may now be forced to rethink its vaccination strategy, he conceded. He added that people who have been vaccinated with Sinovac and Sinopharm may need to get an additional mRNA vaccine if they need to travel overseas. According to the Swiss Federal Office of Public Health, people who have been vaccinated with either Sinovac and Sinopharm can enter the country. However, they are unable to apply for a Swiss COVID certificate. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2021-11-14 - Whatever you're going through, the Samaritans are here for you - Follow ASEAN NOW on LINE for breaking COVID-19 updates Get your business in front of millions of customers who read ASEAN NOW with an interest in Thailand every month - email [email protected] for more information 3

It will get interesting when thailand starts using its own homegrown vaccine, like ChulaCov19. I doubt that thailand will seek and obtain country-by-country approvals for this vaccine if/when they start using it. 13

Popular Post Swiss1960
As per the link in the main article: He would have been allowed to enter Switzerland and THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN NO QUARANTINE for him. HOWEVER: With the vaccine combination he has, he would not have gotten a Swiss Covid certificate, for which every visitor to Switzerland can apply by showing his/her vaccination status. EU certificates are also accepted, but obviously not the Thai certificates (why might that be???). This certificate he would need to enter buildings or do activities such as : - go check his Swiss bank accounts - enter restaurants to go eat and drink - go into any red light establishment and bars - go skiing in any mountain resort So he might have been able to attend a UN event, but he probably did not want to go there in the first place... 13 8
Popular Post pseudorabies
Obviously Switzerland and many other countries do not have the same unconditional love and blind (misplaced?) trust of China that Mr. Anutin and others in this administration have. The people of Thailand have been made to suffer because of his actions and inaction. It's good to see that he's experiencing some of that as well. 47 1

He might however find it difficult to even book a hotel room in Geneva without a Swiss Covid certificate (besides not being allowed in any other place), so he would have to sleep on the couch in the Embassy of Thailand in Bern. 7

Popular Post dinsdale
BEIJING (AP) — China’s top disease control official, in a rare acknowledgement, said current vaccines offer low protection against the coronavirus and mixing them is among strategies being considered to boost their effectiveness. He also praised the benefits of mRNA vaccines, the technology behind the two vaccines seen as the most effective, Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna, months after questioning whether the then-unproven method was safe. https://apnews.com/article/china-gao-<deleted>-vaccines-offer-low-protection-coronavirus-675bcb6b5710c7329823148ffbff6ef9 This is from April 11 pretty well pre-Delta.

I don't think it would be very diplomatic to be breaking the rules and claim diplomatic status as a reason to attend UN meetings, do you have a link to that? 1

But, where you can you get an additional mRNA vaccine in Thailand? Nowhere. Surprisingly, a friend of mine posted a photo of one of his relatives getting his first shot of Moderna a couple days ago. Remember that a bunch of Moderna was donated to Thailand but there was a lot of controversy about who was going to get allocated how much and how much would be set aside for those who already paid for it. (Not surprisingly, I'm registered at 2 different hospitals and haven't heard a peep from either one about when they think they will get the vaccine.) Anutin has had his nose up China's *** ever since he joined Prayut's gov't (probably long before that). Remember early on in the crisis when he was spouting off about the "dirty farangs" compared to the "clean Chinese" (despite the fact that, at that time, all of the corona cases in Thailand were caused by people coming from China) ? The whole gov't is an excuse away from joining Cambodia and Burma both in their authoritarian gov'ts and subservience to China. 21
