LOL - you beat me to it.

We should be hearing about a new proposed quadruple pricing scheme for farang any day now.

Why just farang, why not all foreigners regardless of their colour?

Good question.

Caucasians: Foreigners.

Chinese, Japanese, Koreans, et al: Not foreigners.

Other Asians are foreigners and pay the normal price.

Also anyone with a non O-A is required to have insurance policy for national park coverage on top of existing cover.

Don't give them any ideas

Yep.

Try to pin almost any Thai down when it comes to the meaning of the term “farang,” and he’ll insist it means “foreigner.”

Then, ask him if Japanese or Koreans are “farang” also.

“Oh, no, no!”

Park Entrance Fee:

Thai Adult  -    50 THB
Thai Child  -     25 THB
Thai over 70 -  15 THB
Foreigner -       5,000 THB

That will get them back on track.

No, 'farang' means white person. Some Thai are farang.

Thais also call each other "farang kee nok", if they act like a Westerner.

Yes, it means something like “white person,” but few Thais will tell you this to your face.

It can mean 'foreign' too. For example 'farang food', 'farang language', etc

It can obviously mean whatever you choose it to mean, then. Use the term "Alien" for anything or anyone not a Thai national and we all know where we stand.

Apples to oranges.

You are comparing a 1 year non-immigrant visa with no pathway to permanent status in Thailand to a 5 year visa with a clear and direct right to reside in the US with full rights as a citizen would have.

Point is that it's so much easier for retirees coming to Thailand than the other way around.

And, no, of I get a "retirement" visa in the US, I don't have citizen's rights.

Doi Inthanon been closed much of the year far as I know.

I try to avoid venues with Nationalistic (racist) entry pricing schemes.

I thought the Chinese paid the Thai prices too

For me, as a retired Thai, to get a visa in the USA, I need to invest 16 million baht.

For American retirees coming to Thailand, they must pay $50 and just SHOW their bank account.

Don't ask for equality!

I'm not Thai and not American but would like to know if as a retired Thai in USA do you get get all the social benefits etc that expats who retire in Thailand get?

A 31% drop in Thai visitors and a 95% drop in foreign visitors! Why would that be?

Could it be something to do with dual pricing? Surely not! Despite dual pricing being clearly against the constitution some judge said it was not!

I live 15 km from Khao Yai Park, and I've been once in four years. The displeasure I get from being cheated exceeds the please of visiting the park.

I do exactly the same.

If the Family want to go in and have a look about, thats fine.

Me, I sit in a quiet place outside the Gate, usually with a cold beer and wait for their return.

How do you qualify as a local?

In the south I get charged the same as Thai people with a pink ID card (fairly easy to get if you stay here longterm).

I don't understand the outcry

Not easy in many District offices. Many refuse yellowbook and pink card is a no go also.
