65% of Expats in Thailand say unvaccinated passengers should sit in separate areas on aeroplanes according to a survey by ASEAN NOW.

570 Expats across Thailand completed the ASEAN NOW survey on vaccinations, which also revealed more interesting insights.

In fact, 74% agreed that governments should have the right to impose restrictions on arrival for unvaccinated people.

Surprisingly was that 65% also wanted airlines to place unvaccinated passengers in separate areas in the cabin. 
Of course, it is not unusual to catch a virus on a plane when there is little social distancing.

The survey which was posted on forums in several Asian countries including Thailand, Vietnam, and the Philippines shows how expats view the current situation.

Personally I'm not bothered whether passengers are vaccinated or not (I am triple vaxxed). However, to resume easier travel why not simply impose following rules for travel to ANY county with NO restrictions on arrival:

 

1) PCR Test within 48 hours of departure or border crossing (set-up more fast testing locations in/near airports etc.)

2) ALL passengers must have had at least 2 vaccinations

3) NO restrictions on arrival - get on with life

 

Sooner or later the world is going to have to wake up to the impending economic disaster of reduced travel. Not just tourism but business and development. Look at cities such as London, New York and Bangkok in terms of huge business distress.

My plane had like 360 seats and 21 passengers - if current thai nonsense in entry restrictions continues this story is a non-starter as everyone literally will have about 18 seats to themselves !

The world will soon transform into Dr. Seuss's "Star-Belly Sneetches".  Not only unvaxed passengers in separate areas, we should even go farther (within those separated areas) by sub-dividing groups based on religion, sexual identity, proof (or not) of childhood vaccines, odor, vegans vs meat eaters, alcoholics vs non-drinkers, political beliefs, annual salary (bring your bank statements and portfolios).....hopefully most will notice my sarcasm....but where does it stop.

Why not ? and if in addition we could ban certain citizens of countries in Eastern Europe, that would be a plus.

No manned check-in, all automated. Passengers need to pass spray booth before moving to dedicted departure area, and are in a locked area, no shopping no coffe shops etc., / not allowed to mix with other people at the airport.

 

Passenger puts check-in and cabin bags in a trough and drenched with antiseptic spray,all automated, If damaged bad luck, no reimbursement available.

 

No cabin crew, just self serve water coffee and cookies. Announcements re 'be seated and buckle up for landing etc.,' all automated. If passengers don't and are injured their own responsibility, airline not responsible at all.

In other words don't fly is you're unvaccinated.

There is no evidence of airborne disease spreading thru planes (especially covid) in any amount that is concerning.

 

If you are that concerned maybe they should not fly at all.

 

The full air circulation / exchange in a plane is something like 100% turn over in less than five minutes.

If you have the budget and its a busy flight then best to book first or business class seats for added protection as Omicron changed the dynamics, last thing I would want is sitting next to an unvaccinated passenger from a country that is known for fake pcr tests.
