This topic can only cover some general observations of course, as I am sure there are many of you who have or did have a very happy marriage to a western wife. 

Also, we read tales of how expats end up unhappy and sometimes broke after an unsuccessful marriage to a Thai wife.

That said here is a snapshot of general views.

Firstly, Thai culture means Thai women do have a great sense of loyalty to family, even after marrying.

It is not unusual to find many Thai families all living together in the same house.

It is very common to see that many mothers are happy to look after their grandkids. Some almost full-time while their daughters go off to work or get married.

It is a different culture in the West where grandmothers do not generally look after their grandchildren, just visit on birthdays and at Christmas.

Have fun

Thai women know how to have fun. They generally also do not ever give a lot of hassle about low funds or being bored. 

They are happy to make ends meet and enjoy the free things in life such as Thailand’s inner beauty, like the beaches, and just going to see their friends.

Many Western wives meanwhile are obsessed with keeping up appearances. 

Paying bills late such as school fees is a big no-no. One of the main reasons for divorce in the West is normally over family financial issues.

Is she loyal?

A significant portion of Thai women and many other Asian women do not butterfly, as it’s just not a part of their culture. These women remain monogamous to their men.

Western marriages come under strain when either party flirts at parties or have office romances. And of boy do they like to gossip!

Most Thai women tend to be very feminine with their beautiful faces, bodies, and souls.

I love their display of the motto, The Land of Smiles; their sense of shyness at first, then friendship afterward.

For some reason, the Asian climate seems to agree with Asian women’s looks, and even the over-fifties tend to have fewer wrinkles than Western women.

Finally, Western women can be boring. A significant portion wants to know from a man what kind of car he drives, his job/career, will he take care of her, so she doesn’t have to work, etc. before tying the knot. Seems that Western women make great friends/buddies, but lousy girlfriends and wives. 

Perhaps until the Western women change their attitude and learn from Thai and other Asian women about how to give their heart to a man, only then things might change.

Now as we said these are just observations, so we are sure you may wish to agree or perhaps disagree. The debate starts here.

How do Thai women compare to Western women as a wife?

They don't....

Like chalk and cheese, poles apart, thank God !

I seem to remember a survey a few years ago saying that Thai women were the most adulterous women on the planet. 

One demand/expects money monthly 

The other takes it upon divorce

I live upcountry in a village, with my Thai wife and her family around, and I agree with the OP; faithful, many supports from the grand mother with childs, feminity etc 

I don't compare with western women, I am 100 % for Thai women

It really doesn't  matter where they come from. You have to pick the right one,[ married twice to Thai's but still looking for the right one].

This statement in itself is only partly true.  Thai women love to have fun, party and spend evenings out on the town, however when the ATM runs low then the yelling and abuse starts in with the expat being blamed for everything that is wrong because they have little money.

I had a couple bad experiences with Western women.

 

A very good experience with my Thai wife.

I'd say in the context of East Asia, don't marry a Japanese or Korean. The cultural differences are too great. It would take a long article for me to explain everything, but suffice it to say I recommend Chinese women (not from Malaysia, though) and do not recommend Japanese or Koreans. Yes, Japanese women are beautiful, but so are all the others, but living together, the two cultures clash too much.

 

Moot point really... I think this question was asked a thousands times over many years and many forums with no different answer, simply you and your luck who you'll end up with...

80 percent are unfaithful mentioned the survey .

Men with Thai wives that claim there wives do not butterfly have a 20 percent chance of being correct 

A good one is a good one, a bad one is a bad one... this applies worldwide.

Married 9.5 years to a Western Lady, Divorced. Married 40+ years to a Thai and "NEVER LOOKING BACK!"

I shall ignore commenting on my first thieving dishonest Thai wife as it would make all Thai woman look very bad.

 

But my current Thai wife - and last one - is far better than any western wife/partner I have ever had. She always wants me looking nice, she sits down once a week to cut my finger and toe nails - western wife never did that, she'll take me to the hairdressers when she thinks its too long, she loves cooking for me to enjoy eating, rather than just cooking for me to eat ! She always encourages me with our daughter, she loves the garden - which I hate, she'll massage me when i ache, be fair she puts me first in her life above herself most times, even though I do not need her too.

 

That said, she seems to really struggle with me not wanting our 5 year old (near 6) in the bed still, and I get the old - 'its the thai way' thing. I know she would still like to go out dancing with her friends once in a while, and I am happy for her to do this as she comes back after enjoying herself - not looking for a new husband ! Most annoying fact about her is every time we get ready to go out or watch a movie she'll start doing something else, like cleaning the house or an odd job !

 

Overall, I'd say she is far better than a western wife as I feel wanted and taken care of rather than the spare leg of a western woman

 

Lastly, unlike some on here I feel confident about taking her back to the UK and her staying with me - me 57 and her 43. She's a mature teacher and not some 23 year old bar girl looking for a passport. Though I do ache for those young women days sometimes......just don't tell her

 

If you can find a Thai wife who you can have an intelligent conversation with and likes sex after 40, she's a keeper.  

I live in a small town up north. All of my friends have Thai wives. We are all older and our wives are older, too. Some have been together 30 years. Mature Thai women appreciate the security of having a falang husband and are not likely to stray (younger women may be another story). My wife takes excellent care of me and makes me happy. I cannot even imagine being with a western women again.

Only ever had one wife, she's Thai. But lived in US 43 years with me so kinda Thai....But have to say where they are from is not as important as what's in their heart. Good girls and bad girls come in all flavors same goes for husbands..

Let's put it bluntly? There are only two kinds of women, and better remember that what you see is not always what you get (from both kinds)

I would not be so pessimistic about Japanese women, but then again is a matter of personal experience...and luck.

So rarely do I see so many positive stories....kudos

Not the ones I've met. The first thing they look at is your shoes then your car.
