Defense officials and congressional staffers told CNN that Ukrainian troops have in recent weeks used the US-made Patriot air defense system to shoot down at least one faraway Russian fighter jet. The Russian jets have largely been staying behind Russian defensive lines, making them difficult for Ukraine to target with shorter-range systems like NASAMs.

The Russian planes the Patriot targeted were on a bombing run to fire missiles against Ukrainian targets, US officials said, which Russia has been doing throughout the past year to maximize civilian casualties.

I would suggest Modi is holding all the cards here.

 

Modi is doing Putin a favour by buying his oil as the money is fuelling Putin's economy and war.

 

Russia has defaulted of its defence contracts with India and the equipment it has sold so far is second-rate and not up to world standards.

 

Modi is part of the West's Quad to curtail China and Modi is forming alliances in trade etc with other democratic countries.

 

He is in Australia at the moment signing up for a closer alliance there.

 

He will not jeopardize his standing with the West to help Putin.

Ukraine is ready to launch its long-expected counter-offensive against Russian forces, one of the country's most senior security officials has told the BBC.
