Ukraine just launched a successful missile attack on the headquarters of Russia's Black Sea Fleet, in Sevastopol.  The Russians are claiming one soldier dead and debris scattered over "hundreds" of metres.  Looks like the Ukrainians are making a full on attack on all Russian naval shipping and command centres in Crimea.  The Sun reports a Storm Shadow missile was used.  If true, wait for the inevitable nuclear threats against the UK by Russia's televisual talking heads.

 

 

If this is true, it’s another huge blow for the Russians, and a big boost for Ukrainian morale.

I don't quite understand why they would be sitting in offices during wartime with their location being public knowledge and not in underground bunkers and within range for enemy missiles...

These ATACMS are a version of the said missiles, armed only with cluster bomblets and not a single warhead, not ideal for blowing the Kerch Bridge but I'm sure the Ukrainians will make use of them somehow.

A Telegraph video of one of the missiles hitting the headquarters.  Note the civilians in the foreground watching with no apparent fear for their lives, and then calmy discussing it afterwards.  One side purposefully targets civilians, the other goes about the business of attacking the enemy's military, with little to no collateral damage, and those on the ground know it.

 

Ukraine is saying they attacked the headquarters because a high level meeting of Russian naval leaders was taking place there, and that senior commanders were amongst the casualties.

 

 

AN ultimatum to the Russians, now that the Ukrainians are on a roll in the Black Sea:

 

"Oleksiy Danilov, the secretary of Ukraine's Security Council said there were two options for the future of the Russia's Black Sea fleet - voluntary or forced "self-neutralisation".

If it did not choose the voluntary option, it "will be sliced up like a salami," he said on X".

ATACMS can be fitted with an HE warhead or multiple cluster munitions

 

Three different types of warheads are used on the operational models of the ATACMS. The MGM-140A contains 950 M74 APAM (Anti-Personnel Anti-Material) submunitions, which are scattered in mid-air during the final stretch of the missile's terminal phase. Depending on how far from the target the missile is set to release its submunitions, they can potentially saturate an area of up to 33 000 m2, with each submunition having a casualty radius of 15 m. M1 Abrams Tanks Have Arrived In Ukraine

 

The first of Ukraine’s long-awaited American-supplied M1 Abrams main battle tanks have arrived in the country, the U.S. Department of Defense has confirmed to The War Zone. While we don’t know how many of the tanks have been delivered to Ukraine at this point, Washington has committed to sending 31 of the M1A1 versions and these will surely be committed soon to Kyiv’s ongoing counteroffensive.

 

The Pentagon provided The War Zone with the following statement:

 

“As President Zelensky said earlier today, the first batch of the 31 Abrams tanks have arrived in Ukraine. The mere presence of Abrams tanks serves as a potent deterrent. By having these tanks in their arsenal, the Ukrainian Army can more effectively discourage aggressive actions.
