BANGKOK (NNT) - The Government Pharmaceutical Organization (GPO) has dismissed the rumors that Thailand is facing shortages of Favipiravir tablets for COVID-19 patients.

Concerning recent speculation about Favipiravir shortages, GPO Deputy Director Sirikul Methivirangsan said the organization currently has 24 million Favipiravir pills in reserve with 60 million more in production.

She also noted that some GPO service units also still have Favipiravir pills in reserve.

The deputy director further assured that GPO has been continuously distributing antiviral pills to primary service units in accordance with the Public Health Emergency Operation Center’s management policies.

These units are responsible for overseeing and distributing Favipiravir to local service centers for treating COVID-19 patients in their respective areas.

Bangkok hospital/clinics first, last and always.

Sorry villagers. None for you.

Hard to imagine that these supplies are not being syphoned off at every stage of distribution........nice little earner for the RTP et al.

So, then it´s as usual. Rife incompetence regarding priority and distribution.

Good to have the "rumor" as another news thread.
