Another price cut by MG as I expected.

All of the early adopters rushing to buy at the end of last year are looking rather foolish now...

I think you’ll find most EV drivers are very happy with their cars.

A serious discount on a serious car.

Discount 830,000 ! Official price Mercedes-Benz E 300 e Plug-in Hybrid : 2,790,000 – 3,190,000 baht | Motor Show 2024 campaign.

In Europe the new version of the E Class is on sale, this campaign is on the old model, which I prefer.  I think the dashboard on this model is superb.

The manufacturers all seem to be in panic mode.

Here is an independent report on the statement that ev’s pollute more via their brake and tyre wear.

Excellent article that actually referenced the article from the earlier post (now removed)

They said that if the press release by Emissions Analytics was correct "tyres would be bald in less than 1,358 miles, or two months’ worth of driving for the average UK driver"

And “ running on it’s alloys in 4,000 miles “ !!

Laughed out loud at that 😀

Here's another analysis of the issue.

Do electric cars have an air pollution problem?

Its overall findings:

"The study found heavier electric cars cause marginally more road and tyre wear for the larger PM 10 particles and the smaller PM 2.5. Yet once engine pollution is added in, petrol and diesel cars were marginally worse."

Keep in mind there are two types of pollutants: gaseous and particulate.   Tire particulate pollution as being talked occurs as vehicles roll down.

And of course if you want to go back upstream the manufacturing of tires causes more particulate pollution along with gaseous pollution.

I expect Ursula will follow Biden plan to stop import of all EV's regardless of where they are made unless they are made from European parts

Vinny41, you were right...again!

How do you do it?

A number of Chinese EV brands are looking to setup factories in Turkey

Turkey Labour rates are lower than the EU countries

And since Turkey is part of  European Union's customs union no additional tariffs for vehicles going from Turkiye to EU market

Turkiye has something that the EU doesn't want 5 Million migrants all wanting to leave Turkey and enter Europe

It is all good, as long as you don't live next to a BYD factory.

Screenshot_20240309_085333_Chrome.jpg

Living next to a factory/refinery/pig farm/etc.,...regardless of what its making...is something I hope I never have to experience.  Just too many possible pollutants that can appear in the air, soil, and/or water....and even if the pollutants are supposedly within safe limits a person will always have the feeling that maybe those govt limits are not really safe or are not accurate.

I saw an Ora Lightning Cat on the road yesterday. Verdict: ugly as Hell. Very frumpy, and looked as though someone had been rummaging in the Porsche/VW parts bin, joined a few bits together and then stuck some Bentley rear lights on.

BYDs, Deepals, generally look bespoke and very very nicely designed. This just looks like a hodgepodge of copied bits of other cars, not impressed.

Sometimes it just means it was an article  originally from a Paywall website as articles from such Paywall sites can be archived to certain archive sites and then magically the article can be read on that archive site without hitting a paywall.    Below is "just an example" of many such websites to further explain how archive sites get around Paywalls....and of course if the article is not on any archive website then the article is still only available on the original Paywall site.

Living next to Union Carbide in Bhopal sure wasn't the best idea and yes, refineries do stink.

Now look what you’ve done announcing that MG have just launched a 100th Anniversary Special Edition ZS EV!

It will give Transman the opportunity to reignite his one-man crusade, the purpose of which is remind us all about 1924, Morris Garages, performance rides, heritage, Union Jack flags on the boot/trunk door and the sacred British iconic MG name - and how we've all been duped by those devious, crafty Chinese into believing MG is still a British company.

A worthy cause indeed and I, for one, wish him all the success he deserves for his endeavours. He's earned it.

I’ve already written to my member of parliament in the UK and I encourage all true Brits to do the same!

MG4 X Power coming soon, price to be announced at Motor Show.

( my money is on 1,199,000 😀 )

Interesting that many reviewers suggest that the entry level MG4s are the best value for money.

The X-Power has the same performance as a BYD Seal AWD but most reviewers state that apart from the 0-60 time it’s not much different to a regular MG4

The green colour is an expensive add on.

Having said that I bet it will surprise a few performance cars at the lights.

1,199,000 would make it very expensive compared with the D and X, if it drives anything like the standard models it will be a fantastic hot hatch.

300k more than the X and a NMC battery might put some off.

Don't know if anyone posted this yet. but besides making Horizon's Neta v, the PTT's subsidiary Arun Plus, will also be making 2 more brands of electric vehicles (EVs) – ZEEKR and XPENG

PTT being the state owned oil company, in case you think EVs are just a fad in TH.

Yea ... let  that one sink in, take as long as you need

PTT ... Petrol & CSs, (mini malls) battery manufacturer and 3 different makes of EVs .. so far.

Following the Neta theme:

https://carnewschina.com/2024/03/08/netas-indonesia-plant-set-for-vehicles-to-roll-off-the-assembly-line-next-month/

What about the Thai Neta factory ?

https://www.neta.co.th/en/news/brands-pr-news/NetaVll_factory

Looks like the Thai Neta factory will concentrate on the release of Neta V II  anytime now.

The first car off the production line was a Neta V II back in Nov 2023

Does anybody else follow this company on FB? Quite impressive what they do with their EV tear downs to become a 3rd party service center.

https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100095486864026

Interesting tidbit on BYD: although BYD is known for being heavily vertically integrated, they don't shy away from using 3rd party systems (this one is the Atto 3) even more strange is that they marry ZF and their own sub-assembly together. And for the haters: ZF is a well known, high quality German company - how does that fit into the narrative of cheap Chinese cars?  😇

Those are some impressive figures. I wonder what it'll cost here. Online sources say it goes for between US$28,900 to $38,000 in China. So starting price there equivalent to around 1 million baht.

You should get one before they go out of business. They are losing a couple of $ billion every year, but make it up by expanding their business.
