Under a million for sure - 600-800 ideally.

My personal choice would be Honda City Hatchback in top trim. It has a small but powerful and economic engine with hybrid system and good driver assistance systems. I also very much like the hatchback style

Your assumption Thailand will follow, is I believe, false.   Two completely separate markets with separate circumstances.   What kickstarted the EV revolution here was BYD & GW

From what I've found, Nissan's recent restructuring seems to have secured its future, in Asia anyway.

Their restructuring doesn’t fix their sales numbers, profitability or outlook.

They have bought some breathing time, that’s all.

Their S&P credit rating is still “Junk”.

Wife says, she saw somewhere that BYD announced a full electric pickup in TH for the end of the year. Did anyone see this?

I m reluctant to buy the riddara rd6 seeing the issues Neta V owners have now. Neta even had dealerships, but very little repair centers and no spare parts. Geely seems in the same situation to me.

Therefore my hope for something affordable pickup size from BYD.

May be BYD Shark, but that is a Hybrid.

I have always said that Teslas are overpriced in Thailand.

In this example from the Tesla store, they have knocked half a million off the price of a prefacelift Model Y AWD Performance, but it’s still half a million more that the brand new BYD Sealion 7 AWD Performance.

I was poking around in a Hyptec HT yesterday. Not to buy but because they were showing them at Chaeng Wattana and I had some time to kill. Expensive for here, similarly priced to the Tesla Model Y (a bit cheaper) but SOOOOOO much nicer and plusher inside, and much better specced. You get airline style tables in the rear, reclining rear seats to 143 degrees, 22 speaker Dolby Atmos sound system. Ventilated and massaging seats.

1,749,000 for the Gullwing luxury, or 1,449,000 for the standard version.

Not sure I'd buy one for that price but I would definitely have one over the Tesla any day of the week if I did want to spend Tesla money.

Never say never but I doubt that Riddara goes down the drain as Neta. That Geely conglomerate is too big and has too many brands.

That's a really nice truck, as I peeked at one, at their Ratchaburi dealer (Neta signed).  Nice price point also, and got some features to it.

Starting to build a network, and not bad for just getting here in TH.   Few in the metros, and a few around Krung Thep

The SAIC / MG MAXUS 9 is supposed to be coming, but a bit too plush for me, along with a hefty price tag of 2-2.5M baht.   I don't need that much truck :cheesy:

It just came to my mind. There is a Thai company named NEX point, who's converting regular pickups and busses to EVs. You might want have a look. They are reasonably priced. From the exterior look I'd say the pick up base is a Nissan Navara

My brother-in-law just spent five weeks with me, he says the BYD shark is being seen all over Australia now, it’s very well received and popular.

I watched a video of the Shark compared to the 400hp Ranger Raptor.  The Shark is faster which will upset the Raptor boys here.

I see their original price was 1.4M, dropped to 990k, after Riddara RD6 hit the market.  Going to be hard to sway people away from the RD6 for the Nex pick up.

Tesla with 2 newly refreshed models for sale in the kingdom selling less than 100 cars must be disappointing

The problem Tesla is facing is not just low sales, people in the UK and Europe are keying Tesla's and insulting Tesla drivers when they are getting in and out of their vehicles.

previously, I read that Tesla delivered 1,000 model y ( new model juniper ) called the launched series . Only 1000 ! . So we should the numbers in May . Along with the regular model y juniper (non-launched  series .

Are you talking in Thailand?   Maybe you meant another country like Norway.

Sounds good but it isn't

The UK figures in the graph above were an anomaly due to a spike in all EV sales in March to beat incoming EV tax changes. Tesla's April car sales dropped 62% in Britain.

Here in Thailand, Tesla sales have always been poor due to inflated prices and poor investment in the Super Charger network.

You can buy a 13.5kWh Tesla PowerWall in Thailand for ฿699,000, no wonder nobody is buying them.

The instant torque & hp is awesome at times, and much appreciated.  Once you experience it, you'll understand, and not go back to just 'settling for', low hp @ xxxx rpms.

Sort of like masturbation vs intercourse or BJ.   Hope that helps explain it ... 😎

Your statement equates to a virgin asking ... "Why should I have sex with another person, when I can masturbate"

Let that sink in, don't hurt yourself.

When you are stuck behind slow moving vehicles it is irrelevant what car you drive, you can only go as fast as the vehicles in front allow you to go.

You missed the point of the post you quoted.

When you are stuck behind slow moving vehicles the instant torque and higher hp gives you more opportunities to overtake.

Certainly not irrelevant if you are in a +500 hp BYD Seal or a 68 hp Suzuki Celery !

Thailand is not really made for high performance cars be it Electric of ICE. The obsession with "my car is faster than yours from a dead stop" is ridiculous in a country with traffic jams and road that do not support high speeds. Years ago I had a 911 this was when there was no speed limit on the motor ways. Then they dropped it to 70 and from that point on the 911 was useless. Just about every car on the road can do 70 mph.

Racing has been around forever.  Foot, horse, scooters, cars, planes, and will never stop.

Of course racing in an urban setting is for true idiots.  There's plenty of street racing & drifting going on in Thailand.

Some have for ego, some for playing.  I enjoy the performance of our BEV, when needed.  Though 0-100 kph in 8 secs isn't going win any awards.  So won't racing for car titles 🙄

Nothing to do with Electric vehicles in Thailand yet you felt the need to tell us ….. see how that looks ?

Saw articles all over the internet where BYD has just made big price cuts on many of its EV sold in China.   For example see below article with chart showing price reductions (reduction percentage) for many models such as the Atto (called Yuan in China), Dolphin, Seal, Sealion 7 (called Sealion 07 in China), etc.

Apparently the price cut thru June 2025 is driven by high inventory levels at dealerships although sales growth has been increasing/very good.  Wouldn't surprise me it the promotion goes beyond the end of June.

I know specifications of models sold in China differ somewhat from what is sold outside of China (like in Thailand) but I wonder if price-cuts may be coming to Thailand BYD dealerships soon....triggering another round of cut-throat price cutting in Thailand.

.. hmm .. minus 15% or 20% would be very interesting as entry level models would be now definitely cheaper than ICE ...

No I didn't. People fool themselves into believing that because their EV can go from Zero to 60 in 2 seconds, which it may well be capable of, you have to have the road on which to do it. Thailand does not have those roads.
