Thai Rath reported that an Air Force drone caught someone red handed setting fire to piles of wood in a protected area of Chiang Mai in northern Thailand.

It happened in an area known as Samoeng forest.

A KA-32 helicopter was sent with water to douse the flames yesterday.

Deputy governor Worawit Chaisawat called for quick action to find the person responsible after a meeting of the Chiang Mai Provincial Forest Fire and Smog Prevention and Solution Command Center.

The media said that rains had helped put out fires in the region but problems associated with burning continued to plague the northern province.

Lock the <deleted> up.......

One step forward two steps back…the Will is not there to minimize PM 2.5 levels to acceptable levels…

never confuse activity with achievement (see above). there is no program in place to get a handle on the situation. Gov doesn’t see/have a big picture approach….

I told you…This is the reason for the existence of the Thai Air Forces.

Equip drones with missiles and use them!

It looks more like someone with a pile of charcoal.

Exactly.

And the submarines handle the fires at sea such as burning oil slicks and plastic garbage.

There should have been a "Rapid Action" chopper on standby ready to fly out and pick him up as he was lighting the fires, not just talk about what to do. But that is Thai officialdom.

To be fair, it only takes one uneducated moron with a 10 baht lighter to start a massive fire with not much chance of being caught.

This is a problem that is difficult to police and will continue for years to come.

And possibly a requirement for F35s?

Yep, hard to see the smoke from inside the police station in this hot weather.
