Correct me if I am wrong but if this guy was insured during the time of the attack, the insurance company should cover the complete treatment even if it meanwhile expires.

Corrected!  Your wrong!

Good, but you agree that a % of Scots don't like the English? kind of undercurrent

That could apply to many countries' situations, not only Scots v English, and vice versa!

Anyone who has lived in Scotland has noticed it, heard of ABE? world cup support anyone but England. Wimbledon English support Andy Murray, Scots wouldn't support Tim Henman, might as well just accept it, not everyone but there is an undercurrent

While I don't disagree there is a petty jingoism being stoked against the English by the SNP and their ilk at the moment, loads of Scots supported Tim Henman and continue to support other English athletes as Scotland is also part of GB.

The football rivalry is a different animal, Scots can never support the English national football team.

I would go back to the 1990's, when an Australian actor was the star of a movie loosely based around some facts,  that was the turning point i think.

Freedom !!!!!!!!!!!!!! :coffee1:

But that's not stated in the BBC  report is it? It just says the money is to save his eyesight, now it's to pay for his legal bills also?

It could take weeks or months to raise the 15k he is asking for, if it does then maybe the operation he "urgently " needs is not so urgent after all?

Don't take all you read as facts because to me there is something wrong here and again I'm not disputing he was attacked as the report states he will be returning home after the operation so it seems he is not intending to stick around to see justice done

Do you just get all your approved news and analytics from one source... the BBC? I'm merely reading between the lines and based on other sources that he will have to remain in the Kingdom if he is to be successful at pressing criminal charges. Strewth, are you always this imperceptive?

It's called speculating. It's also what you've been doing for the past half-dozen pages with the victim being at fault for not having the correct travel insurance in case someone decides to murder him. ????

So you are using your speculation to try and prove your point? Really? ????

This is actually pretty fun, can you give us more of your "speculation" I'm a little bored tonight

Well, are you an expat living in Thailand, so you probably are a tad bored there.

I can’t wait for your next outburst when you find out that his attacker also doesn’t have any travel or health insurance after living in the Kingdom for 5 years. It’s going to be epic. Then again, he probably gets a free pass as his mother hasn’t set-up a Go Fund Me page yet.

Poor effort, I'm sure you can speculate better than that?

What do you mean with "...asking his job..."? I've tried hard but can't figure it out.

But alot of Scots have a favourite EPL team. But as you say not same as national team.  Which applies to Rugby too.

Should have asked for an autograph, he's world famous now. Surprised the BBC picked this up but this is good as Thai Police will be even more pressured to impose harsh penalties on the attacker who apparently has retained a lawyer and only offered 100k out of what will be an estimated 800k procedure. Interesting how in this article he says he really wants to go home now but previously he was saying he wanted to stay here, especially until he can get a visa for the lady he met here to come back to the UK with him.

this would make a good short story now that there's a girlfriend ?? his taken home oops. my advice to him just you go home your life would be much cheaper.

I am very sorry for him being attacked and hurt like that. However, I fail to understand how he have to save his eye to be able to go home??? Even blind people can fly.

The reduced air pressure when flying may cause complications plus the occipital bones may be unstable due to the fractures not wise to travel in such circumstances

Problem is he is a tourist and 2 people who are "helping" him out are much more interested in self promotion than actually helping the guy. Both are long term expats and know exactly which public hospital to take him and can also go to BKK. But he now has the trust because they were the first to "help" so he is listening to them only and all they are doing is promoting their business interests under the pretense of caring and helping

Come on that's not fair, They aren't going to send him to Banglamung hospital or Pattaya City Hall and going further afield for a better govt hospital isn't practical yet. Truth is they want to help the guy and at the same times getting viewers and subscribers why not. Without Pattaya News posting the story + videos I doubt it would have got the coverage, maybe even ignored by police

There are plenty of government hospitals that can fix him for half the price and have specialists and dressing him up in their gear is inappropriate.

additionally one “supposedly “ has all the connections and …… yeah , nothing

I think you mixed things up. I'm talking about the guy who does not like the English. I expressed my opinion already on the attacker. Who says I share his thinking? He has the freedom to like or not to like, I'm just pointing out why other people may have a different idea about the English. I'm mainland European, born to people who suffered in the WWII. under German occupation so I have no bad feelings about the British at all. My father's memories about the Germans were not as good. The Britsch never occupied my country they liberated it.

What nationality is the attacker? I could probably take a reasonable guess but don't want to jump the gun.

Your average Pom/Yank/Aussie wouldn't do something unprovoked like this. We're not that short fused and are (mostly) taught to practice inner restraint and discipline.

Are you for real? Never heard of fight at Football, AFL or hockey games?
