I've heard there's some sort of arrangement where you can fix all your small scratches once per year.

Does this count as a claim that will affect future rates?

Did I completely misunderstand?

Thanks

yes this is a 'dry' claim but check with your insurance, your rates won't be going up but you won't get the no claims discount next year, some might even ask for an excess to be paid in order to do a 'dry claim'

The answer is no.

File a claim and your rate will go up so that the insurer compensates themselves from your future claims.  Once you have a habit of making claims?  Look out.

Insurance is for major claims.  Any dings or minor accidents - fix it yourself on your own dime.  They will get any payment made to you back in spades.

not on an individual basis since at most you'll be quoted the same as last year without the no claims discount or  denied a renewal, but never going up, you'll then can shop for other companies' insurance

but yes, cost of new insurance for small car like toyota yaris insurance has been going up due to overwhelming frivolous claims like this
