Treatment, service are top notch here in Bangkok.  I had returned for a visit to the US and could not get an appointment for 3 months, and I was only going to be in the US for 6 weeks. It took an act of congress and 4 weeks to refill my diabetic meds there, and then they would not fill the insulin until I saw the doctor.......

 

Returned here and had an appointment the next day, after clearing the 24 hr isolation period while waiting for the PCR results, with the endocronogist and picked up my meds within 20 minutes of finishing my appointment which also included blood test results, which were back in an hour.

Perhaps, although it's essentially in the eyes. I honestly did not sense any hostility. I know how Thais behave when they disapprove of something, that was not the case here.

 

This is my 2nd maskless day and it's going well, I have been carrying a spare one in my bag just in case but have not felt the need to use it.

All of my friends and relatives who had Covid were vaccinated before, and wearing mask.

I never wearing mask and never took any covid_jab.

As for me, I never got Covid infection.

You can afford high quality medical insurance, not the ordinary Asians.

The Thais have a 30 baht medical program which gives them access to treatment that is good. My ex-wifes mother had cancer and was treated just fine during all of her surgeries and followup treatments  10 years later she is still cancer free... you might want to really look at hospital care here, whether in a government hospital or private hospital. The doctors who work in the private hospitals also work in the government hospitals.  Many ex-pat friends have been treated in the government hospitals as well and received great treatment

The temp things are free to use, you don't have to stop walking, and it tells you if your temp is in its normal range for free.

And you want to dodge the free service...????

The  ent doctor in the USA use fiber optic scopes, but the Thai ent doctor use mechanics inspection mirrors.  

 

In the USA all big city hospitals have in house MRI machines. I do not think Thailand can afford that. 

 

I got bronchitis and was prescribed six different medicines by the Pattaya government hospital. 

I looked up the medicines online and found all six were developed in Europe around 1950s.  

In the USA I got one Z pack and one over the counter cough syrup, and it completely cured my bronchitis in five days.   

 

Wealthy Thai come to the USA for advance treatments. Americans come to Asia for advance treatment ?

 

The 30 baht treatment should work well for simple cases.  Medical technology takes  $$  to develop. 

Thailand has been a developing country for the last 50 years and is still developing.   

 

Comparing wealthy country medicine and developing country medicine is like comparing an eagle to a chicken.  

 

I have much respect for Thai doctors, but I feel fortunate not having to rely  on developing country medicines.

So, thats another reason its not on despite no longer being a requirement, it still is, the big coporations will carry the torch. One Thai family member of mine remarked Thais don't want to show they are deeply unhappy, they are too tired of expending the energy to smile anymore. Interesting, and maybe shes right about that, but judging from some of my other family's complete terror regarding COVID, I would guess its a matter too important to them to trust a patently and strictly self-interested government but who ironically shoe-horned them into wearing masks all the time in the first place.  But, the guy who drives me into town wasn't wearing his mask yesterday. I asked him if he had heard that the govt. rescinded the requirement and he said no he hadn't heard that. I asked why he wasn't wearing his mask as usual then and he said he didn't know, he just was tired of wearing it or something, didn't particularly feel like it and he hadn't really given it any thought, chuckle, chuckle. Good, at least the campaign didn't work  on people like him who are too busy playing soccer or running his clothing business to sit around listening to the world disinfo service creep-ohs all day like I do. I would guess there are more like him out there thank Buddah.

You have been brainwashed into believing that Thai medicine is behind the times.  The majority of the hospitals have top end and new equipment, ergo Medical Tourism...try again.  People think this is still a thrid worls country and not a developing country.  You say it is a developing country and ergo why the doctors and medical staff, for the most part are trained to the same standards as in the US.  Many of the doctors here have trained in the US, like my endocrinologist, gastroenterologist, and orthopedist.  MRI Machines are available, well at least her in BKK and then in Udon Thani, so your claims are baseless.

 

Yes there are no social service safety nets for Thai's, yet they can still obtain long covid treatment, like there is no prostitution in America, or Europe.....stay on topic.  Mask wearing by the Asean Communities has been done for years, like the doctors offices I visited in California many times in the early 2000's, they had a separate entrance for those that had or suspected they had viruses, and separate seating rooms, and had masks available if you wanted one.

Icon Siam yesterday was pretty busy, and I only saw 1 or 2 foreigners not wearing masks.  In fact a family with young children were all masked.  There still are security at the doors but they are not checking anything.  It is up to the individual to decide what is right for him/her.  You seem to believe that it is a fear campaign making people keep on the masks.  You seem to understand things differently then many of the Thais I live around, and masks have been worm prior to covid by many..........

all my Thai friends, my local watering hole all wear masks if needed.

Take into consideration, we have never seen a cop or authority to search for non mask wearers ever.

 

They/I wear a mask because WE KNOW folk who laughed at masks have caught C19, that is mainly at my watering hole. You see, there are some with a bit of common sense to take some sort of self-protection in the environment we frequent.....????

I also still use a mask when entering any store!
And that's just to protect myself!

 

What others think about it, I do not care!

 

I also wear a mask for years, when the fine dust loads are high here!

No FFP2 or KF94 mask, but one with valve for easier breathing!

7-11 staff are still wearing them, they told me that customers now have a choice.

It is not a Sheeple mentality, it is a decision folks make to keep themselves safe from things such as bad air quality and viruses.  Please do not equate the views on mask wearing as a mentality or those that wear them as Sheeple.  The world over is a vast area and as you indicate masks are still worn in most countries.......

So I just made a short ride to 7-11 with 10 yr old daughter. She was having a fit that I wasn't wearing a mask on the MB. Put it on for 7-11. But, mostly all the Thais still wearing mask alone on MB's. Walking alone with no one around, wear a mask. It's going to be hard for the Thais to give up the mask. 

 

And please no talk about dust and pollution where I'm at.
