webfact Posted July 1, 2022 Posted July 1, 2022 By Goongnang Suksawat Patong, Phuket – CCTV footage at a hotel in Patong clearly showed a 19-year-old Australian man who was walking around a pool on a wall and then a railing accidentally fell down, say law enforcement officers familiar with the investigation. Phuket Police told the press no foul play took place while the victim’s relatives also believe it was a tragic accident. The CCTV on the roof top of the sixth floor at the Patong hotel shows the man, now identified publicly as 19-year-old Joshua James Connell, was walking on a raised wall above the pool around 5:45 P.M. He appeared to be practicing a type of parkour, according to Phuket Police, and jumped to a smaller white metal railing from the raised wall above the pool before losing his balance and falling down. Mr. Connell, who was wearing only swimming shorts and was barefoot, had tried to restore his balance, tottering like a tightrope walker for about fifteen seconds, but tragically tumbled six stories below. Popular Post bkk6060 Posted July 1, 2022 Popular Post Posted July 1, 2022 Young Australians walking around with their shirts off getting loud drink in Phuket is the norm from my experience. One reason I avoid the place. RIP. 7 3 2
Popular Post Enoon Posted July 1, 2022 Popular Post Posted July 1, 2022 Does acting like a total **** and paying the near inevitable price really qualify as a "tragic accident"? Russian Roulette on a railing. 14 1

One reason I avoid the place. RIP. Your bigotry is showing! I don't see anything unusual about someone near a roof top pool being shirtless, and there is nothing to indicate he was loud drink (sic). Of course he was an idiot and perhaps it was just a matter of time before he eliminated himself from the (gene) pool, but walking on high railings is hardly the norm among the usual Patong bar crowd. (I'm presuming you were talking about the town of Patong rather than the Province of Phuket) Must be good living in Pattaya where there are no loud drunks to spoil your utopia. 10 1 1 2 1
Popular Post 4MyEgo Posted July 2, 2022 Popular Post Posted July 2, 2022 Boys will be boys and of course they do silly things, we've all been there, done that, well I haven't actually walked on the edge of a wall, 6 stories up at 19, as I would have bee too busy trying to get into other things, besides, I am now scared of heights. That said, I do recall when I was around 10-12 that I used to scale tall trees in the huge park near our place, and if I fell, well it would have been all over, not thinking twice. This is a tragic accident that his mates with him on this trip will feel for a long time coming, not to mention his devastated parents/siblings/relatives back in Oz. RIP m8, nothing negative to say, except a young life cut short, probably from board. 4

Moonlover Posted July 2, 2022 Posted July 2, 2022 The first reporting of this incident was immediately closed for comment by the admin staff, decision I agreed with knowing the history of some of our less savory members. The trash that has been posted here shows clearly that they originally made a good editorial decision, one that should have been repeated here. Many of the posts here are utterly disgraceful! 2

Never swam in shark infested waters? etc. etc? Your life was that boring?
xtrnuno41 Posted July 2, 2022 Posted July 2, 2022 It is what youngsters do, see youtube. There many movies which make my hands start sweating and make me feel uncomfortable. Already just by seeing those movies.
connda Posted July 2, 2022 Posted July 2, 2022 Darwin Award Winner Of The Week. I understand taking risks, especially when you're young. You're - ALIVE! It's a great feeling until you screw up.

That changed my perspective ... quite dramatically. But I did what this guy did on Heidelberg Castle's battlement - a 200' drop if I'd come off on the wrong side ... I was thirtyish at the time ... people I was with were terrified but that's what I wanted. Same 'surfing' on the outside of city transit trains - turns other passengers' faces white 555 I'd never do anything remotely like that now - I'm too aware of my mortality. Keep my kicks to things like flying or diving. Certainly wouldn't ever ride a bike in LOS again after trying it once only. Autos have absolutely NO respect for or possibly even awareness of cyclists as the death toll of experienced cyclists shows. I've been very lucky in life in many ways. So sad the way this young lad ended.

Motorcycles are death traps, but sharks ain't interested in you as a diver. Swimming with them is an interesting experience nonetheless ...
