Those who claim it may soon be necessary are overwhelmingly Trump supporters.

65 % of people who said it may soon be necessary to take up arms against the Government were NOT Republicans .

Just 35 % of people who agreed were Republicans '

35% Republican to 20% for Dems. That's overwhelming by my definition.

Apart from that, irrespective of which party they are from, that is a huge number of Americans who appear to be promoting potentially killing fellow Americans that will surely happen in that scenario.

Over a third of all Repub voters think it may be necessary to invoke a civil war. That's an extremist position.

Don't take it too seriously .

There is practically no possibility that there will be  civil war in the USA and its just bravado speak from some Americans

Yes, I did mention that I thought it was politically driven bluster. The problem is that the thousands who actually did riot at the Capitol tends to give credence to the narrative that many are serious as does the proliferation of guns with no other real purpose.

I haven’t looked at the latest figures, but isn’t it true that a (vast) majority of Republicans still believe the election was stolen? That to me indicates a total disregard for facts and reality. No wonder they would want to take up arms to defend their living in La-La Land.

That only covers the Democrats.  If you want to include the Republican party, you'll have to include "fascist."

Fascism was invented by Mussolini a socialist.

Wouldn't it be easier to get another 18-ish percent of the vote and elect politicians one third of the country do not want to take up arms against?

Or am I really, really naive?

You don't think that Republicans are "nazis" ?

A 23 yr old fellow just turned down a $440,000,000 multi year contract to play baseball...

I'm going to say something is wrong, sure.

But, what I don't get about civil war is who is who? In the past, there were boundaries, physical borders.

Most Americans have absolutely no clue what ‘socialist’ means, they have been brought up to fear it and see it as something evil. Just like the MAGA crowd calls everyone and everything they disagree with “the radical left”.

Most Americans are blissfully unaware of the fact there is one of the most socialist organizations on the planet right in their midst. It's called the American military.

Correct when he was a young socialist but he split with the movement and rode a wave of anti-socialist violence to fascist power.

Same thing. State control. Lack of freedom.
