which part do you think is fake?  That Democrats are largely socialists or even extreme left wing and anti-capitalist?  That there is massi illegal immigration and that the government does not try to check it, actually providing free transport to move these people to states further north such as Pennsylvania?  That the government is trying hard to slow down and stop oil and gas exploration and production?

America already has socialist programs and you probably benefit from them.

This is what happens when your country hasn't been at war with anyone for a year.

  • .....maybe just best to do it at the ballot box.

as does every single country in the world. It's not about reality, it's about wanting to coin the term as an epithet against the left.

Most Americans have absolutely no clue what ‘socialist’ means, they have been brought up to fear it and see it as something evil. Just like the MAGA crowd calls everyone and everything they disagree with “the radical left”.

Those who claim it may soon be necessary are overwhelmingly Trump supporters.

65 % of people who said it may soon be necessary to take up arms against the Government were NOT Republicans .

Just 35 % of people who agreed were Republicans '

I don't think these MAGA nutters even understand what "conservative" means.  All they know is "us" and "them."  And of course, us is good, them is bad....5555

35% Republican to 20% for Dems. That's overwhelming by my definition.

Over a third of all Repub voters think it may be necessary to invoke a civil war. That's an extremist position.

Apart from that, irrespective of which party they are from, that is a huge number of Americans who appear to be promoting potentially killing fellow Americans that will surely happen in that scenario.

Don't take it too seriously .

There is practically no possibility that there will be  civil war in the USA and its just bravado speak from some Americans

Yes, I did mention that I thought it was politically driven bluster. The problem is that the thousands who actually did riot at the Capitol tends to give credence to the narrative that many are serious as does the proliferation of guns with no other real purpose.

I haven’t looked at the latest figures, but isn’t it true that a (vast) majority of Republicans still believe the election was stolen? That to me indicates a total disregard for facts and reality. No wonder they would want to take up arms to defend their living in La-La Land.

Not being American I have no idea but given the press reports isn't it just the braindead that follow Trump are of that opinion ?

Unfortunately, fear is a great seller.

Fear of democracy. That's the only driver of this sentiment, otherwise they'd be content to vote and let the chips fall where they may.

but the only ones running for office are politicians or would be politicians?

As a non American, what I find scary is the US National debt. I thought our UK national  debt was big, but wow!

Imo most countries should be divided into 2. Socialist US and capitalist US.

Solves a lot of issues.

That only covers the Democrats.  If you want to include the Republican party, you'll have to include "fascist."

Fascism was invented by Mussolini a socialist.

Wouldn't it be easier to get another 18-ish percent of the vote and elect politicians one third of the country do not want to take up arms against?

Or am I really, really naive?

You don't think that Republicans are "nazis" ?

A 23 yr old fellow just turned down a $440,000,000 multi year contract to play baseball...

I'm going to say something is wrong, sure.

But, what I don't get about civil war is who is who? In the past, there were boundaries, physical borders.

Most Americans are blissfully unaware of the fact there is one of the most socialist organizations on the planet right in their midst. It's called the American military.

Correct when he was a young socialist but he split with the movement and rode a wave of anti-socialist violence to fascist power.

Same thing. State control. Lack of freedom.

Voting no longer has any meaning - now that the Democrats have realized that they can get away with stealing elections. You approve of the theft because the party you favor "won" the election this time. But what happens next time, if the other part steals the election? Will you still be in favor of rigged elections then? When trust in the election system is gone, the whole concept of democracy breaks down. And I'd say we're already at that point.

AFAIK the Republican Party has fought long and hard to exclude minority groups from exercising their voting rights. Their trust in the voting system is probably frayed as well.

Please tell me, how do you steal an election when you have 8 million more popular votes than Trump? Sounds to me it was the Republicans who were doing most of the rigging, and failing. The Republicans who have conceded the election was won fairly are labelled as RINO's, and get death threats for their honesty.

Hitler came to power with a minority vote, despite a concerted campaign of violence and intimidation against all non-Nazi parties. His supporters were all brainwashed into believing he was the savior of Germany.

History repeats itself, see where I am going with this?
