Thailand agrees to allow former Sri Lankan president to take temporary shelter

Sri Lanka’s ousted President Gotabaya Rajapaksa is due to arrive in Bangkok tomorrow (Thursday) from Singapore, after the Thai government agreed to allow him temporary shelter in the country, with the intention of onward travel.

 

Thai Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai said that the former president holds a diplomatic passport, which was approved by the Sri Lankan government, and can stay in Thailand for up to 90 days in accordance with the Thai regulations.

 

He said that the former president can stay in a hotel, a rented apartment or house, while admitting one potential issue, that being the Sri Lankan people in Thailand.

Well, Don is right. As long as the crook holds a valid diplomatic passport from Sri Lanka, then the Thais play it by the book. 
Once he has outstayed his welcome, he might travel on to the Western brethren of the Thai government in Myanmar; with some of the looted cash he certainly can convince the Yangonian powers-to-be (or is it Napydawians?) to find a loophole in their self-written constitution. 

If Sri Lanka is serious, then cancel Rajapaksa's passport now and file an extradition treaty. The tools are there but will they ever be used for the real thieves and crooks, I wonder? What a poor representative of one of the most beautiful places inhabited by some of the most lovely people .....

Now he can enjoy a law-abiding happy ending here, complete with with absolutely no 90 day reports like the rest of us stupid plebs. 

 

We can tell we're stupid plebs because we get robbed by our home countries -rather than rob them- which would be the perfect solution to fund our lavish retirement in Kalaland. 

 

If we were smart and generous to the Thai Government just like him, our lives would be amazing! ????????????????
