OMG!!!

Who will run the country now?

Who will look after us?

We're in good hands, Prawit has assumed the leadership for the time being. Good, are'nt they! ????

I'd be more curious as to the legal and official procedure of suspending an imaginary head of state?

Suspension as in: temporary? Or.......suspension as in: you're fired?

Appears to be a lot of magical Thai rhetoric at work here. All of which, makes it more intriguingly mused.

And even more importantly........did this act receive the appropriate permission and blessing?

The wife says he has not been "suspended" as of yet.  This is as of 17:50pm.  They are just discussing it.

suspended as PM but not suspended as a defense minister, so can attend all meetings and all the rest

So it's sort of out with the old junta guy and in with the new.............junta guy.

That said, can you imagine a conference between old watch face and senile old joe - be placing odds on which one fell asleep first

The problem was that a decision too obviously favourable to the ruling clique would undermine the authority of the court. A 5-4 decision for a suspension opens a very big possibility of his reinstatement in the coming weeks, but allows the court to maintain a sense of dignified disinterestedness in the political games.

Having said that, the ruling clique is aware that Prayuth is shockingly unpopular and would prefer a better chance against the Peu Thai party, so they won't be that bothered. Indeed, the clique is displaying larger and larger cracks in their unity. Their horror years may be coming to an end.

I thought Prayut made the rules ????

It must not be forgotten he failed to include a sentence swearing allegiance to the constitution when he took the oath of office which raised questions about the legitimacy of his government.  He was very keen not to be questioned about his omission.

The Constitution says 8 years, he says 'but I did not say I agreed to follow it.'  Maybe.

Thai PM suspended from duty by Charter Court, Deputy Prawit becomes acting PM

After a unanimous vote to accept a petition from the opposition bloc in Parliament, seeking a Constitutional Court ruling on Prayut’s eight-year term in office and on a 5-4 majority vote, Prayut Chan-o-cha has been instructed to suspend his duties as the prime minister from today (Wednesday) until the court finally decides his fate.

It is expected that the Constitutional Court proceedings will be completed within one month, or by the end of September, during which time the cabinet will continue to perform its duties. Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwan will serve as acting prime minister in the meantime.

I hope the Watchman can stay awake he doesn't look like he can run the government but he can wind a watch ok

I do not want to "wind you up" but I suspect the watches may be automatics!

It doesn't really matter,  he will be pulling the strings anyway.  Besides,  they are all singing from the same songbook...... or should that be the same Bank book!

I guess it will be overturned somehow

Depends if somebody wants it overturned or was quite happy to throw Goofy under the wheels of the bus. The orders for the CC come from somewhere after all.

Is he still active enough to keep a self-winding watch going?

Out of the frying pan and into the fire. Prawit supposedly as interim PM and Anutin certainly waiting in the wings to take control. This could be truly as bad as a Thai soap opera!

Anutin .. Will mean all Farangs will have to have compulsory showers with a Loofa at the airport “;0)
