Pattaya Police Station Head Transferred After Kyrgyz Woman’s Death

IMMEDIATELY transferred to the National Police headquarters in Bangkok Sunday (Sept. 18) was the superintendent of Pattaya City police station after two cases of human trafficking and prostitution emerged at the seaside city with one leading to a Kyrgyz woman falling from the seventh floor of a hotel, reported Matichon newspaper.

 

Pol. Col. Kulachat Kulchai, the head of Pattaya City police station, was replaced by the station’s deputy chief Pol. Col. Mekawit Praditphon from today till the end of the month.

 

The first case involved rescue of some Thai girls under the age of 18, who had been forced into prostitution at Tree Town market, by a team from the Department of Provincial Administration, along with  Bang Lamung District Administration and Social Development and Human Security officials, during Sept. 10-11.

Pattaya police chief removed from position by Chonburi Provincial Police commander

Pattaya-Chief of Pattaya Police Kunlachart Kunlachai has been removed from his position according to Chonburi Provincial Police Order 393/2565, which is at the end of this article for reference.

 

The order, which takes effect as of September 18th, 2022, will also place Police Colonel Mekawit Praditphon, Deputy Commander of the Chonburi Provincial Police, to act as temporary superintendent/chief of Pattaya police until at least September 30th, 2022.

I'd sack every last one of them after checking their bank accounts. I mean these guys are so useless they cannot find evidence of prostitution in one of the cities with the most prostitutes in the world

Isn't it strange how something like this always happens after the death of the poor innocent individual/s, then as things settle down (time passing), it's back to business as usual, however the money is still changing hands in the mean time, different boss stepping up from under his old boss who is rubbing shoulders with his superiors in BKK.

I think his "immediate" transfer may have been based on the fact that the lady did make a complaint about some chinese mafia or something being after her, and then shortly after, she wound up dead.  I presume the cops did no investigation into who was after her, nor provided any type of protection or help?

No kind of investigation into whether there is systemic corruption/incompetence within that section of the police force then. Just a one month transfer for the top guy till things blow over.

Can't find because they are turning a blind eye stuffing their pockets then when <deleted> hits the fan. Then upper official pounds their chest tough guy transfer for a month for a Thai holiday until the stink goes away. Agree replace them all!

the only thing I have seen recently from Pattaya police is shutting down bars for no good reason - but I think everyone on here knows the reason, all the bars that I have seen shut had all the correct papers and licences ............ go figure

Can you tell us which bars or point me to the article which I must have missed?

Curious how you would know for sure that they all "had all the correct papers and licences"

Exactly! That should be food for thought for all the expats on here who keep saying the same mantra: "When you're in a foreign country, you should follow the law!" Those foreign bar owners who follow the law to the letter are always the ones who get in trouble with corrupt police. Paying bribes is illegal in Thailand but if you want to stay in business, you better be a law breaker. Otherwise, you're guaranteed a nasty visit from the mafia...erm I mean the police.

Agree, but replace them with who? Corruption is endemic in Thailand (not just Thailand) trying to find some honest hard working folks who want to be cops who won't take bribes might well be difficult?

Very true like most stuff here you can never eliminate it is basically control. Here as you noted not by the leadership today or in your or mine lifetime. 

We both know what is needed but helpless so our solution is to vent out loud here.  If we were given the power to do so we wouldn't last a week.

It is said a posting to Pattaya Plod costs 1 million baht but this is recouped in the first year.

I used to take my 4 year old daughter to the local pool in Pattaya off Soi Khaotalo.

 

We both loved it. Lots of kids for her to play with, nice restaurant & ice cream. Dutch guy with a lovely Thai wife owned the place.

 

Cops shut him down as he refused to pay bribes for "protection"...from themselves.

 

It was a really, really nice place for kids and parents to have a good time.
