My affairs are really easy to sort- everything goes on the fire as I have almost nothing anyone else would want. I doubt anyone really wants my VHS video tape players or my record collection. Anything worth anything I'll give away before I pass. I'll only need my DVD player and my DVD collection to pass the time till the end, assuming the "rest home" I get assigned to has individual rooms. Do you have a large porn collection ?
October 22, 20223 yr I'm following some guy on YouTube and this is actually his situation. Stage 4 cancer spread to the lungs, although his lifestyle is basically the same. Right now he is basically staying in nice hotels with his dogs, smoking weed and taking small trips that are not too far from the hospital. He wanted to goto Thailand but could not due to the flight safely due to blood clots I think. He is late 50's, no kids, single, no friends. Real into YouTube and live streams. Pretty depressing, but if you don't have a lot of money there really is not a whole lot you CAN DO. Your just waiting to die. His name is Mad Mac.

I would spend whatever was necessary to maximise the enjoyment from those last 6 month. The reality is that (as I am content) life might not be too much different from what I have now.........just a few more extras here and there. I would spend only a tiny amount of the $10,000 to preserve as much as possible into the education fund I've created, years ago, for my 3 Thai grandchildren. No new cars, no new clothes, no new anything. Not needed. And my Thai sons knows that my cemation must be on a strict small budget. Why? To preserve as much as possible into the education fund I've created, years ago, for my 3 Thai grandchildren.

October 22, 20223 yr To be true, I would spend my time with my wife at our farm if it was from now to end of february, and after that a seaview room at Centara in Hua Hin. I do not need much to complete my life at this point. I think that wuld be well spent 10k usd. Maybe a few extasy and a few g of coke would spice it up a bit to with quality wine, chese and import beef and lamb. Yep,

I truly hope that your Thai family have the desire, and capability, to see your plans through. If they haven't got the ability and motivation (or opportunity) then the education fund will be of little long-term use. The family will make funeral arrangements in accordance with their tradition, irrespective of your wishes. Few seem seem to realise that it is their own inheritance that they are spending on monks, wake and other features of 'show'. What you are doing is very much in line with what most of us do anyway - those that matter are well taken care of any the $10k could be spent frivolously, hedonistically, selfishly without much of a dent in their inheritance.

Unfortunately, accommodation, nursing plus repeated assessments by doctors, prescription fees and medication costs would use up $10,000 USD rather quickly. Even with symptoms under control and minimised the end would likely still be unpleasant.

October 22, 20223 yr Popular Post 1. I would increase my budget. 2. I would do as many doubles and triples as possible and insure all of them were with beautiful gals with great attitudes. 3. Drink as much ridiculously fine wine as I could. Within reason. 4. Not watch the news for even a moment. 5. Reflect on a life well lived, thank those who helped make it so rich and be very grateful. 6. Figure out some other priorities. 7. Not spend a minute of that those 180 days worrying about death. We are all going to croak someday, anyway. Embrace it.

Thanks for being as negative as possible, how kind of you. Interesting that you don't know my family but you know what they will do. I guess you are clairvoyant. Your actually wrong on all points. My Thai son and his Thai wife both have good education and they are very focused on good education for their kids and every Baht spent brings value to that cause. No they won't just go ahead and do a traditional ation. In fact some time ago some outer family members mentioned to my son they wanted him to organize an expensive cremation and party when I go to make the whole family look rich/important. With me present (I speak plenty of Thai) he told them that wouldn't be happening and why (every Baht to be saved for education of my grandchildren). They all backed off. My son is no pushover, he (and his wife) will respect our discussions, I have no doubt about that.

The answers I gave you are from real life examples - and you clearly know zip about the Thai mentality and psyche. I should have realised the post was really about your ego and trying to put yourself on a pedestal. ASEAN NOW is not here to blow smoke up you a55! If you had not made adequate provision before the last 6 months of your life you are unlikely to achieve in the last 180 days.
