I got angry today, as always "thai people know it better, your way might work in farangland, but this is Thailand" ...

You have another option. Leave your wife. And very carefully screen the next potential wife for design flaws. Find one that believes in you. Find one that respects you, has your back, and possesses common sense. As we know, Thais do not necessarily do it better. Many Thais have no pride in the work they do.

Being doubted all your life cannot be very satisfying. Same applies to being surrounded by empty superstitions. That would try my patience to no end.

You asked.

I would assume that by marrying a Thai woman you got a younger and more attractive woman than you would have done back home?  And she does stuff for you that a Western woman hopped up on feminism woul

Maybe it’s because you are the manager?

Maybe because I help them to get better at their job.

I think at work an employee is required to listen or at least act like they are listen to a manager.

Simple solution, learn to ignore her.

If she won't park her m'bike under the new roof let her keep it outside, go kayaking without her, keep walking into tiger territory and let her find her own way, keep the wallet closed and let her earn her own money.

IMO she must be absolutely amazing in bed to stay with her.

Even better option, after getting divorced do not get married again. No man HAS to be married.

We are all allowed one big mistake when it comes to women, but we need to understand it was a mistake, and that doing the same thing over and over is not a good idea.

Your wish list woman IMO is impossible to find.

And this sums it all up, this basic requirement for any relationship to work is what the OP is missing.

Possibly real. Seems to be a lot of people climbing onto their roofs lately.

Of course American professional wrestling is genuine ask many Americans. So Spiderman must also be real?

and my wife will refuse

Your wife is the problem and your constant kowtowing to her.

Tell her: Accept it or shut up.

And if you don't shut up then go away and make sure you close the door behind you.

How can you live with such an annoying person?

If thats the case, then tell me why so many people in the western world believe in so many fairytales and conspiracy theories that is far from proven.

My wife asked me if I believed in Jesus magical stories, walking on water, raised from death, water to wine and so on, and I had to answer her the truth.

Myth and superstition are the preferred 'faith' worldwide, because they are simpler to understand. Reality is much more complicated, and often uncomfortable. Every religion, for example, is silly on the face of it, but because it fills a need, many buy into a brand, usually a function of where one was born. Bad events a result of being nasty in a 'previous life'? An act not wrong if the skydaddy doesn't instantly strike one down? A creator of 200 billion galaxies chooses an illiterate guy in the middle of nowhere to channel its 'last message'?. Another deity creates a country club in the sky with a bizarre initiation ceremony that involves setting up its kid to get killed?

The need in Thailand is to believe in inherent Thai superiority, even if there's not a single discovery, invention or addition to the body of human knowledge to back it up. The indoctrination has to be all-encompassing in the face of a reality that tells a much different story. Sure, it's a bit over the top here, but the rest of the world isn't immune from the same kind of affliction.

Perhaps somewhat related is the idea of willful ignorance, sometimes out of laziness and sometimes out of a desire to maintain and reinforce certain comforting beliefs. Many Thais need to think they are superior, especially when confronted with the achievements and successes of other societies. The equivalent thing in a place like the US is the need to believe in "my side" or "my tribe", and willful ignorance makes that easy. Think of the abject idiocy it takes to believe in the QAnon silliness---that a cabal of celebrities and Democrats not only rule the world, but kidnap, rape, roast and eat babies. How about the maga belief that Hugo Chavez, from the grave, and working somewhere in the EU, altered voting machines so that Biden would win in 2020, or that China was so clever producing fake ballots and getting them into States like Arizona, but they forgot US paper is not made with bamboo? Or that all major airlines worldwide, among both allies and enemies, help spread mind-controlling chemtrails to the 'sheeple'? Or that 12 men did not actually walk on the Moon?

So it seems this sort of silliness is hardly limited to Thais, though perhaps the indoctrination covers more aspects of life in Thailand than most places, and there may well be a greater amount of xenophobia among Thais.

I admit I also come from a society, or group of societies, with silly beliefs at their core. One major thing that has struck me as absurd since I was old enough to be aware of infidelity is that I suspect an entire major faith common in the West came to be as a result of an outrageous lie:

"Joey, I swear, god did it !"

Great rant. Could have engineer, scientist and Dr from foreign countries and (most) Thai wives/gf's are gonna listen to the poor, uneducated Thai down the Soi.

Welcome to Thailand. :coffee1:

Someone posted this a couple of years ago.

The poster came home after work and told his Thai wife that their dog Pokey told him that she had just lay around all day watching TV. She went into tears "Why would Pokey tell you that?"

Dogs, cats, the spider watching me from the corner all have a different view of the world. My Thai wife and I see many things very differently. I have to bite my tongue sometimes, but we let each other have our personal realities.

I got my wish list. Maybe I just got really lucky. Maybe I gave myself many years to find out who she really was before marrying. Either way, I feel very fortunate.

My wife was racist, superstitious, an alcoholic, a prolific liar, prone to anger over not much and astoundingly untidy. I knew little of that before getting married, despite living with her a year. She was consummate at hiding the problems till after we got married.

Even after I found out there was no point in trying to discuss any of it as she refused to talk about it.

In the end though, none of that was the reason we got divorced.

PS. Despite all that above she was a great partner till she wasn't. Always worked hard, great cook and the other as well.

In my post on page one of this thread, I stated 'Many years ago I dated a Thai woman just like this and it near on drove me crazy.'.

You have just described her perfectly.

She wasn't just violent, she would turn on a dime and for no apparent reason..

Quite a few times she threatened me with a kitchen knife for an the most trivial of arguments.

Her racism is reflected in the O.P.'s wife's behaviour, 'you're a farang, you will never be better than a Thai man'.

The constant lying, untidiness and stupid superstitions were also among her 'qualities'.

We were together for a bout 18 months and after eventually kicking her out I was finding empty Lao Khao bottles hidden all over the house for ages after and the local mom & pop shop told me that she was buying a bottle each day.

She was so good at hiding her alcoholism that I didn't even know that she was drinking some most days.

Eventually I had to move house, as she wouldn't stop turning up on the doorstep.

As you can see above, I have been there (as quite a few of us have) and I have got the badge.

I used to (and still do sometimes) wonder why I was so stupid to be with a woman who was so bigoted against my race.

Maybe I didn't see her ugly side until it was too late.

However, what really does confuse me is why these women are attracted to the very farangs that they look down and despise.

Best to smile and let her get on with it without arguing. You can’t make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear.

Reminds me of when I had a/c units installed at my house. I noticed they didn't run ground wires. When I asked why, they said "No need. Electricity different in Thailand". I insisted they ground the units. With the amount of rainfall and lightning they get here, I was astounded at their ignorance.

I had the same problem when I lived in Greece with Greek electricians who would not put a ground wire on a very powerful jacuzzi. I grounded it myself to be safe. Do not get a second chance when you are sat in 1200litres of hot water and there is a big fault.

No, if they act like they are listen to a manager, they are useless as they are not willing to learn.
