I'm not one of these "you're a guest in the country" types, but at least be nice to your neighbours if you're on years of overstay!   Maybe he's gone a bit senile.

Why? There is no money and nothing in it for them.

Not just you...  But, there’s a huge degree of Schadenfreude on this thread....

... yep... over staying is clearly wrong... but we don’t know what mental issues this guy was suffering...

Clearly he’s not 100%...

I thought this forum only allowed English.

Well... on a technicality, it is present in both the Oxford and Merriam-Webster dictionaries...

.... but just in case that doesn't suffice... ...  ‘epicaricacy’....

When the immigration police arrived at a rented property he was waving a stick about menacingly.

An example of how NOT to behave when you are overstaying .

Blend in and don't draw attention to yourself and don't get into any argument/disagreements with any other people

You're honestly suggesting a well trained middle aged policeman would feel 'threatened' by a 74 year old man waving a stick at them?

I'd have thought there would be more chance of them laughing at him.

What difference would it make as to how old the guy was who was threatening them with a stick .

They could laugh at home, but how would they then arrest him if hes waving a stick around ?

Immigration are police.

Ah, no. We have traffic police, neighborhood police and immigration police. Different responsibilities for each.

Are you suggesting a fit 20 year old male and a 74 year old could swing a stick with the same violence?

How would they see him from home?

Are you ok?

3246 days since Jan 5th 2015?

Thai mathematics?

Anyway: off to Finnland.

3246 days is from when he first arrived in Thailand. The overstay if calculated from when he had to leave is 2884 days. Still a substantial amount of forgetfulness.

yes ...  he obviously didn't think of his future with overstay.

I did mean to write "Him" and not *Home*

Brexit caused me to make that spelling error

so what was he waving the stick around for  ?

what was he actually doing and saying  ?

it appears by the story he has done this numerous times and the neighbors want him gone   ?

He seems to have done nothing about his visa after that.

how astute.

He'd arrived in Nong Khai on January 5th 2014 and was given permission to stay for a year until January 5th 2015.

I guess he's had enough of Thailand.. what an idiot.

I wouldn't touch that drunken, belligerent criminal either unless I had a 10 foot pole. ????

A Finn? I learned not to believe everything I read on the internet. They might want to re-check his nationality. I have a gut feeling he might really be German. ????????

How does one get a year "permission" in Nong Khai or at any entry point?  ????

O-A visa

If you are due to be deported from Thailand for being on overstay and are without funds in country who pays for the travel costs?

Perhaps the Landlord wanted him gone too.

If you rent does the Rentor not have to submit TM30 docs routinely to Immigration?

And with Thailand too I guess.... but his 10 year ban will actually be only a little more than his overstay!

Already answered (Non O-A).

Can't delete. C.ap editor

And this makes me think that he acted out of carelessness or senility.

If he had qualified for a Non O-A in Finland he should have been capable of extending.

I you are feeling happy than enjoy.

He'd arrived in Nong Khai on January 5th 2014 " Unusual to arrive in Nong Khai, unless he had been to Vientiane to get a new visa. ( possibly a marriage visa ). No mention of a wife or ex wife plus he was possibly living in rented accomodation. Which could mean he lost everything due to a bad marriage, as many farangs do.
