For retired expats What do you do for excitement

I know there are lot of "retired" guys that spend their time at bars.

 

What I am wondering about is what do you do during the day to keep yourself busy or entertained?

I’m a long way off from retirement, but I’m already wondering the same...  

After Golf...  countryside walks etc... what else does Thailand offer ?

 

In the UK I’d be making a kit-car...  going for Motorcycle rides... 

Taking mountain bikes on trails (perhaps an e-bike as I get older). 

Lots of good walks etc...

Ignore the kit car here but the rest are great.

Travel around the country. Chiang Mai, Phuket, National parks Historical sites etc

Visit Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia. Endless things to . The list is endless.

I'm retired. No set routine.

 

Bit of home or car/motorcycle maintenance, gardening , chat to pinay webcam girls , play guitar , bake bread and cakes , a lot of reading ,try to beat chess computer when drunk. 

 

Whatever I feel like basically.

Thai music, pop up beer gardens with a concerts are best, went to a good one this week. Beer usually 100 baht then you can sit at a table. Always exclusively Leo (boo) or Chang.

I have had enough excitement in my life , so the most excitement I get now , is the

beginning of the month ,to see if I have won anything on the UK Premium Bonds ,

 

Seeing the Toon doing well in the EPL , thats been a long wait , with so many ups

and downs, in the past not a team to support if you have a dicky heart ,good job

I have not , and it's exciting to see them where they are today. I don't ask for a lot. and I am happy.

I live in Central Pattaya - the "entertainment" place of Thailand. A big Red light district... Neither I nor any of my friends ever go to a bar. Too much noise, too many "entertainers", too many alcoholics you see there every day. And this red light district vibe - unbearable. So if I didn't have a better idea to enjoy my life, I guess it really would be over. What I do? There is always something to do. Shopping, meeting friends (at home), internet, watching movies, cooking, travelling...

I watch the clock until opening time.

Enjoy being O&A exploring, all of TH

Enjoy being at home & exploring locally

Enjoy my hobbies and home cookin', from scratch

Enjoy nature, live near surf, <4kms away, hills 10kms away

Taking in all in, everyday, with best friend & wife

Not a night owl or bar person, and can't remember last time I was in one, 15 yrs maybe.

Would rather sit at a coffee shop and enjoy a pastry & beverage with a view

Read, listen to music, play music, watch TV/movies, monitor investments, cook, eat, learn something new, have a nap, play a computer game, and many other things.

There’s always something to do other than sitting on your butt and staring into space.

 

Also, day drinking is a thing too.

On line education is rewarding. Khan Acedamy is my main one but hundreds of others out there. Study Thai. Exercise. Garden. Masturbate. Etc......

Well for a start dont live in the middle of nowhere, where your wife dictates your life for you. Live in or near Pattaya. You then have the choice of the beach at Jomtien, nightlife whenever you want it, cinema, eating out, going to the gym, playing golf etc. If you have the funds and are reasonably fit, retirement should be a fun time. If you think you are already on the way out, doing nothing will quickly accelerate that.

I am glad somebody mentioned that. Leave the night to younger ones and do the afternoon session, nap afterwards, have tea (the meal),  good sleep and hey presto no hangover.

Have to keep busy or else I think my retirement might be spent continuously worrying about if I will have enough money to last me to when I drop off.

Spending 1/3, 2/3rds time between Australia and Thailand maybe. Regular workouts to stay strong. Helping the misso's family etc.

Plenty to do in retirement. I spend a considerable amount of time keeping up to date with my favourite tv series, watch movies, play golf and cycle around 200km per week on average. Basically just chill and enjoy life as it presents itself.

I live on Koh Phangan - temporarily banished from living/working in Myanmar for medical and political reasons.

In the morning I jog a couple of km to the 7/11 and back, then teach English and Thai to about 40 Burmese kids in the local community.  I'm a techie person, so enjoy my ham radio hobby and building antennas to receive weather satellite and ISS pictures etc.  Swim on the sea every afternoon, teach science online, just waiting for my UK state pension to start in about 30 months from now.  Then I will have more freedom to travel, teach, do more hobbies etc.
