Teachers across all grade levels in Florida’s Manatee County School District are closing off students’ access to their classroom libraries due to the Florida books ban.

The Sarasota Herald-Tribune reports that teachers have been instructed to remove all books from their classroom libraries that have not yet been approved by a certified media specialist.

Kevin Chapman, the district’s chief of staff, made the announcement on Monday, January 23.

DeSantis is a 'very dangerous individual' because he has 'already absorbed all the lessons of Trump' but doesn't have any of the baggage, an expert on fascism argues

In any case it won't be a cake walk.

As it stands now, the republicans are structured to nominate somebody that is maga fascist type, whether it's trump, DeSantis, or another one of their bozos.

Old school non maga fascist republicans still don't have a chance.

Trump himself is fading away, but Trumpism is tragically still very much alive.

Florida considers books to be more dangerous to students than assault rifles.

Assault rifles are allowed in the classroom?

Careful.  People might think you're being serious.  You need to pop in a few emojis.

The Manatee County School District directed teachers to remove all books that had not yet been approved by a specialist from their classroom libraries, Kevin Chapman, the district's chief of staff, said Monday. Chapman said many of the books teachers make available to students in their classrooms are likely already approved through the district's library system, but many teachers have chosen to close access altogether, since making unvetted books available could lead to felony prosecution.

The district did not, however, directly advise teachers to shut down classroom libraries and cover them up, Chapman said.

Sounds like the teachers might be "shutting down" their classroom libraries when they don't have to, in order to try and make it seem like all books have been banned.  By the title of this topic, it seems to be working.

All books are not being removed though , just books that contain pornography and see below

"In a message sent from the Manatee district to principals, the material must be “free of pornography” and “appropriate for the age level and group.” New training approved by the State Board of Education also asks media specialists to avoid materials with “unsolicited theories that may lead to student indoctrination.”

Your quote contradicts your post.

You may also want to look into how appropriateness has been defined, together with 'unsolicited theories that may lead to indoctrination '.

I'm guessing it's a conservative government and the teachers are liberals, so they're lying to try and make the government look bad.  Sad that teachers are making kids suffer in order to try and score some political points.

Seems wise to keep an eye on what books are making it into classrooms, given the rate at which teachers are trying to push controversial ideology on their students.  (No room for that in the classroom, whether left or right.)

He says "and see below" so the quote is in addition to the statement, therefore not contradictory.

All fanatics be they  religious, political, managerial, military , left wing , right wing fascists , commies , liberals , greens, environmentalists etc etc  all of them need to be culled , to save humanity, freedom , rational thought ,democracy  and common sense , and true natural justice ,

I remember the National Geographic magazines in the library at my grade school. I don't think anyone else knew there were pictures in some of the magazines taken in Africa with topless women. Ahhhhh, the good old days. When porn was blindly allowed in grade schools. ????

I did mean, like "see below" for the other reasons and my  post had the same info in it as the quote and the quote gave further reasons , so, no contradiction there

It’s all in the definitions, but the point is ‘the banning of books’.

I sure hope no one tells DeSantis about that thing called the internet where children are exposed to some serious <deleted> and that is without a parent or teacher to help them understand what they are seeing or reading.

They're saying only authorised books are allowed.  It's a shame that things have come to this, but, unfortunately, many teachers are introducing radical texts with the aim of indoctrinating children into their ideology.  (And no, they aren't presenting them neutrally to educate the children in various different ideologies.)

As they say, "teach them how to think, not what to think".

Can you give an example of which books aren't being allowed in order to make people dumb?

Here is an example dumb right now because he didn't say what you're implying. He said the banning of books dumbs down the population. How did you not get that? Or maybe you did and you're just trolling? Banning books lowers educational standards by definition.

The alternate reality is some people claiming that all books have been banned

School libraries should not contain books innappropriate to impressionable young students.

Some of the topics of banned books include changing gender, gay love, critical race theory and other absurd concepts not appropriate for students.

Parents and officials protecting their children from this filth that tears down the fabric of society should be applauded.
