Phangan, Surat Thani-A German man has gone missing after he reportedly jumped from a ferry near Phangan Island in Surat Thani.

The Royal Thai Navy Second Area Command reported to Thai media that they were notified that a male foreign tourist jumped from a ferry heading from Phangan Island at 7:00 P.M. last night (January 31st) to Donsak in Surat Thani.

A search operation is underway for a German tourist who has gone missing after jumping from a ferry near Koh Phan Ngan in the Gulf of Thailand. According to a Phuket Express report, the man, who has been named as 35 year old Florian Storz, jumped from the Racha 8 ferry around 15 minutes after it departed from the Surat Thani island at 7pm on Tuesday evening.

When other passengers saw the man jump, they shouted to alert the ferry crew and the vessel was stopped. The captain turned the boat around to search for the German man and the crew alerted officers from the Royal Thai Navy.

Shortly before 9pm, a search operation was launched by Surat Thani Marine Police, rescue divers, and the Phang Ngan Marine Office. The search continued until around 10pm, when it was aborted due to 2 metre high waves, before resuming the following morning.

The man remains missing at this time.

Probably just had enough of life, especially if he lived here

Lived where?  If I had to live in Buriram I'd probably want to end my life after a few days.

But life in Bangkok on the other hand is amazing, so much to do, so many opportunities to meet new people and get involved in things.

We'll never know what issues this guy was facing, maybe he was heartbroken over a relationship breakup, maybe he got some bad medical news, maybe he lost his job and couldn't face having to leave Thailand. There are a myriad possible reasons why he jumped.

Bangkok can be very boring, if not for concerts I would have gone home or topped myself years ago. But then I never want to meet new people or get involved in anything.

Amazing to you, thanks for telling us.   I’m worried about a fellow man who might be dead, a horrible death.   He’s missing……….mental health issues affect everyone.    Okay, maybe not you.   I’m confused with this post.

His body is missing you mean, it was a suicide, I know someone who sat behind them, he just stood up and jumped. One must live in disneyland to think he is still alive.

Anyway, this stuff happens basically weekly on the island.

You stay in Thailand for concerts?

Who have you seen recently, Nok Noi?

Everyone is talking about "mental health", whatever that is. Suicide and depression has little to do with actual illness and everything to do with having a <deleted> life. The only remedy is to change your life in some way. Some people unfortunately have few options.

Saw Nok Noi two weeks ago, since then Lamyai and Anne Oradee. Mrs wants to go and see Mike Piromporn tonight, but I think 57 k is a bit too far. Nok Noi was never a good singer but Seang Issan are an iconic troupe, once went out with one of her dancers, she gave her a good report for her taking care of them.

Nok Noi must be getting on, I thought she was old when I saw here 20 odd years ago in Khon Kaen.

Better then with Mai Thai and luk Prai, they ended up fighting and Mai Thai got the push, Lamyai is better if not tired from too many concerts on the same day.

At the moment getting ready to go out to a Takkedan concert, I'll be the only foreigner there, suits me.

To shed a bit more light on the reason for this poor guy's suicide, apparently he met and fell in love with a young Thai woman in Bangkok and upon returning to Thailand, having been back to Germany, he found out that his gf had found someone else and dumped him. They found his body this afternoon, off of Ko Tao of all places.
