The important issue is how Biden dealt with it. Alaska and northern Canada fall under the aegis of NORAD and there are alert aircraft available 24/7 on both sides of the border. It is a shared responsibility, so there is no fear that Canadian politicians would get upset over issues of sovereignty and overflying Canadian territory.

Lets see where this second balloon they are tracking goes. The Chinese spokeswoman just made a statement on it:

 

She said: "As for the balloon in Latin America's sky, we have learned and verified that the relevant unmanned airship is from China. It is of civilian usage and is used for flight tests.

"Affected by weather and due to limited self-control ability, the airship severely deviated from its set route and entered the space of Latin America and the Caribbean by accident."

Could someone explain how to fly a balloon from China to America with no engines, wings or pilots.

I can see that if you launch it when the wind is blowing east it will start off fine, but to guide it precisely over military targets, what's the trick?

All that is left now is to determine whether the 3 balloons transited the entire US mainland like Biden's did, or whether it was near the Aleutians but not even in US airspace at all? I suspect strongly the 3 balloons under Trump did NOT cross the entire mainland and likely did not even enter US airspace at all. Nothing like a collapsing narrative!

As I understand it.  They use different elevations to get different winds to take them in the direction they want to go.  I suspect, and read somewhere, it has some maneuverability.

Officials have said the balloon was assessed to have motors and propellers, allowing it to be manoeuvred
