Daily News Thai Caption: That's what being kind hearted gets you

Daily News were in contact with a wealthy 58 year old furniture dealer in Nakhon Sri Thammarat's Thung Yai district after he parted with seven million baht in 40 bank transfers before he realised he had been conned.

Nippon Tubantherng owns the "Peking" furniture shop in Tha Yang sub-district.

He said that by September of last year a woman he reffered to as "A", 33, had become a regular customer.

Often seeing each other they chatted frequently.

One day she came in and they got talking about A's sister "B". A showed Nippon a picture, she was very attractive.

But now she had developed fast spreading lung cancer and needed expensive medical treatments.

She asked Nippon for financial help. She said that she had a Thai style house and 60 rai of rubber plantation worth 60 million baht.

She could easily sell that to reimburse Nippon.

Wanting to help out he agreed to loan her the money for surgeries and medication that over the months came to 40 bank transfers totalling 7 million baht.

He asked for pictures of B in the hospital but A fobbed him off.

Finally he came to realise that the picture of B that he had been shown was actually that of a Thai celebrity.

And the "Thai Style Home" picture was bogus as well.

Confronting A about this he was contacted by her husband "Ek" who offered him 300,000 baht to settle the debts "if you don't want any further trouble".

After this Nippon went straight to the police.

And contacted his lawyer in an attempt to get his money back from the tricky A.

In this case the disease free "pops" were far better than the money. She was great in bed.

My father very wisely taught me from a young age that a certain thing can lure you further than gunpowder can launch you.

She said she had property she could sell for 60 million to repay him.  He should have told her to sell it to pay the bills.

Guess he is not really that smart. Anyone in his position should have asked for proof of ownership, and some sort of lien on the property. And he should have insisted on meeting the sister. Real collateral and proof. Otherwise, it is just a fool and his money, and that makes it hard to be sympathetic.

A fable is a story where animals or inanimate objects assume human characteristics, such as speech. It's not synonymous with "story".

Why am I not surprised, I was married to a Thai lady for 13 years and know first hand how they think. When it coms to money all the rules & ethics get thrown out the window!!! I know they are not all tarred with the same brush but sadly a large percentage are!!

Can't believe in 2.5 years you got the price down to 5$

Poor Thai guy just trying to help a sick person.

thats al they talk about  MONEY

40 transactions assuming he got lucky for each transaction equals 175k per nookie. Overpaid by a factor of 100. What does a regular at a furniture shop do? Perhaps Christened every pice of furniture. I don’t know.

Or got a loan secured with the property.

It is synonymous with a false statement, though, i.e a "story".   You should have read the rest of the definition.

Because they avoid idiots like...oh, never mind.

And whereabouts does the "sick buffalo" come into this "Web of Intrigue"? Pretty high, I would think!
