You're funny.
The reason Putin went that way is that means that Ukraine would be required to stop attacking Russia's oil infrastructure. Ukraine has been incredibly effective with that. So on that aspect he's trying to get poodle Trump to force Ukraine to give up one aspect where they are winning against Putin. Putin is playing Trump for the sucker and horrible deal maker that he is. More like fart of the deal than art of the deal.
As far as arming, it will be interesting whether the Europeans will play along with this surrender plan for Ukraine.
Latest on Al Jazeera- Putin has agreed to stop attacking Ukrainian energy infrastructure for 30 days, but nothing about stopping fighting on the front lines. I'm not sure if it's going to happen though.
I doubt Putin will allow the Ukrainians to reinforce under any circumstances- he's winning, so why would he give that away?
The issue is that there is a point where it's written into law that all benefits will be cut about 25 percent without significant structural reform such as raising the SS tax income caps. etc. Before Trump it was estimated that was about 8 to 10 years away.
Under Trump 2.0 the new estimates are 6 years. Of course this can be avoided by a bipartisan consensus to pass that reform.
