My neighbor is Chinese, a real wheeler dealer but a nice guy, if kept at arms length. He has two children in the private school nearby, figure 250k per child per semester. He also has a free spending Chinese wife.

 

During the early days, we introduced him to friends, one of whom is Taiwanese and they started doing business together, our neighbor ended up owing a large amount of money to our other friend as a result of unpaid sales and commissions.

 

Subsequently he found a contact in Immi. and began a lucrative career of selling visa's to Chinese who want to live here, business was brisk by all accounts. Right around the time Big Joke announced a crackdown on officers selling visa's to Chinese, our neighbor held a large party, the following  day he disappeared and hasn't been seen since. His wife says he's gone back to Beijing to sell his house but we think he may be in a restricted environment more local!!!

Simply horrific. RIP.

 

After the initial spurt of action against illegal Chinese immigrants after the nightclub incident a few months back and the pending cases against multiple immigration officers, it seems there may still be a lot of work to do.

It is quite possible that during the COVID period, with a reduction of "normal" immigration activity and therefore, earnings opportunities, that many more immigration officers have had their heads turned into less than legal activities. It might take quite a long-term and concerted effort to sort all this out. 

It's not clear how these three suspects were both so quickly identified and identified as criminals, one wonders...

The cops would have to do actual police work to get real criminals?

Although over stayers have committed an offense, it seems they are easy pickings, although maybe immigration wouldn't be the branch doing the investigations, they could help with locating the perps?

Sometimes I wonder if these I.O.'s bosses know the inane antics of their front line operatives? A friend of mine told me that when he applied for a marriage visa/extension he took photos of the house and fulfilled all the requirements as requested - taken inside the house and out, clearly showing him and his wife and the house number etc etc etc. Not happy with the fact that the request had been complied with "to the T", the I.O. said she wanted a photograph of the roof of the house!!! Apparently my friend's wife told her that they could not supply a photograph of the roof of the house because "there was a bloody big tree in the way"!!!

So the I.O. moved on and said that the photos in the house were not acceptable because they looked too "similar".

Talk about having to jump through hoops!!!

Amazing how they know who did it and unfortunately couldn't catch them. If the Chinese police catch them all well and good. let's wait to see what happens next.
