Phuket – A woman was arrested at Phuket International Airport with more than two kilograms of cocaine worth more than ten million baht, says Thai Customs.

The head of Thai Customs at Phuket International Airport Ms. Sukanya Wettayanukun told the Phuket Express that on Wednesday (April 5th) they received a tip-off from a concerned citizen that illegal drugs would be smuggled into Thailand via a specific airline.

Customs officers searched a targeted piece of luggage which belonged to a 27-year-old Thai woman. Officers found a bag of cocaine weighing 2.35 kilograms which has a street value worth more than 10 million baht.

Room for 1 or 2 more "officials" in the middle

Just a mule, many like her for a handful of baht, catching who sent her that is the hard part.

The number of people in a position to inform had to be quite limited. Can't imagine the Informant isn't in shock to see his/her role was disclosed to defendant and news media. Yikes!

She is apparently just the transport mule. Why don't the police try to catch the clients/buyers/backers in Thailand too. To do this, they would only have to let the mule continue to run with 2 kilograms of flour and also nail down the recipients when handing it over.

As a senior MP said when asked about his gaol sentence in Australia "but I was only carrying flour!"

A ready made excuse for the young lady.

Good idea, they could even have intercepted her bag before she got it, replace the drugs with flour and inserted a small tracker.

Would have been easy and simply to follow her to her final destination.

That's forwards thinking.

Controlled delivery to the suspected receiver, no press. Fools rush in.

One mule caught, 9 let go... Win Win!!!

Yes what concerned citizen would be interested in a Tesco rice bag sized package carried by a poor mule ? Perhaps to detract attention from a 750 kg pallet same day?

Looks like that the price is stable since of 2008...

10 million!

Well, that's not to be sniffed at...
