The Coronation.

Us Brits know how to throw a party with all the History and pageantry. We have A monarchy stretching back to the days of William the Conqueror in 1066. The chair or throne was first used in 1308 but this is debatable the official chair was used in 1399 to crown Henry IV when he was crowned in it. Today our new king Charles 111 will sit in the exact chair and the crown will be the St Edwards crown this was made for the coronation of King Charles II in 1661. The very same crown will be placed on Charles 111 head today, it will be replaced after the crowning and replaced with the Imperial State crown made in 1937, St Edwards Crown will be returned to the Tower of London it is only used for a Coronation. The last Coronation was our late Queen Elizabeth in 1953. If no one has seen a coronation I suggest you watch History played out today. God bless the King.

Actually, the global TV rights alone have apparently paid for the coronation!

With all the tourist income generated it's definitely a net-profit event.

What's the point of such a comment?

There are supporters of the monarchy. And there are people who oppose it.

Both have their reasons.

Is one side ignorant because you are on the other side?

Hold up mush how would you understand or are you English and been brought up in a time when Kings Charles was born.

I'm proud of Englands history what do you have.

Yeah in contact with ordinary people so a bit different from mum a sign of a different approach to a younger populated UK.

So @OneMoreFarang polite and reasonable comment upsets you because he isn't English? Fortunately not all we Englishmen are as xenophobic as you.

Although I'm British, the fact that I left the UK more than 20 years ago does make me a little cynical about the event, which I'm watching on the TV right now.

This is essentially a Christian religion event, but few in the UK would profess to be practicing Christians.  Charles should be pushing Christianity, not kowtowing to other religions. Or make it an event without any Christian aspect.

I see a choral group just now, not a white face amongst them.  Great singing, but I feel it is virtual signalling.

I see past prime ministers and so many entitled (or not so entitled) people.  If Charles says he is one of the people, then don't invite these elites but fill the cathedral with 'common' people from all walks of life.

No one upsets me on a forum but let's go come on it's well known of the ignorance of American people knowing of the history of the UK royal family or would onemanfarang disput that.

I'm not a Royalist, I really couldn’t care any less than I already do about the British Royal family...  I give them as much passing thought as any other person I do not know in person.

That said, neither am I anti Royalist, I believe they bring an economic advantage to the UK through Tourism, they also do solid work on behalf of the UK to promote the British interests.

Thus: while sat on the fence, I only see imbalance and unhinged responses from anti Royalists such as the comments above with twisted words and phrases such as “Calling oneself a King” and making accusations as “Parading around the country like you are above and better than some"...erm.... seasonal game birds"... ( I think you meant peasants BTW !!!)”...

There’s plenty that can be criticised, there’s plenty of politics, plenty of virtue signalling on both for and against the Royal family, also virtue signalling by those running such ’shows’ to highlight how they are all inclusive.... I’m surprised they haven’t got an Ex-Transgender non-binary Bangladeshi Assylum seeking half blind autistic paraplegic to sing the National Anthem.....  Yes, I’m cynical...

But there is a bottom line - This is good for the UK, its good for the UK economy - the UK brings in more money from having a Royal family than if it didn’t and I believe the Royals work very hard for what ultimately is a life in the public eye under extreme criticism many of us would hate...

That doesn’t make me a Royalist, it makes me and a lot of people like me Realists....

I think for Queen Elizabeth's coronation, the entire House of Lords attended. I believe for Charles' coronation, they have mostly all been knocked back, much to their chagrin. No matter what he does, there will always be unhappy people.

I very much doubt that King Charles will be reading your advice to him  as I don't think that he posts here .

Careful....  don’t let facts get in the way of negative bias.... :whistling:

I’m loving the manner in which stoner attempted to virtue signal using pubs as the moral high-ground as if going down the local boozer is the same as starving school children !!!!...
