BANGKOK (NNT) - The Move Forward Party has announced its intention to submit 45 bills for either amendments or new laws once Parliament reconvenes, according to a party executive.

Bencha Saengchantra, an MP representing the Move Forward party list, shared the party’s plans in an online post on May 17. The proposed bills cover various areas, including bureaucratic reform and the abolishment of mandatory conscription.

In her post, Bencha categorized the 45 bills into eight groups, outlining their objectives as follows:

1. Political Laws: Move Forward aims to amend relevant laws to allow the establishment of a new charter-drafting assembly, with the goal of crafting a new people-centric constitution. The party also intends to amend the Military Service Act, replacing forced conscription with a voluntary system. Additionally, Move Forward plans to propose a political amnesty bill to address political conflicts since 2006 and work towards bridging Thailand’s deep political divide.

2. Laws on Rights and Liberty: The party’s core manifesto includes the amendment of laws such as Articles 112 and 116 of the Criminal Code and the Computer Crimes Act. Move Forward will also push for the consideration and enactment of gay marriage legislation within the first 100 days of the new House’s term, along with a bill supporting sexual diversity.

3. Bureaucratic Reform Laws: To promote transparency and prevent corruption, Move Forward will introduce a law requiring government agencies to disclose all information and establish an effective anti-corruption system. The party also plans to propose laws that streamline the process of obtaining permissions and licenses from the state, decentralize administrative power and budget, and introduce the election of provincial governors.

4. Land Reform Laws: Move Forward seeks to resolve land disputes between individuals and the state, granting farmers the right to cultivate their land, among other measures.

5. Public Service Laws: The party aims to enhance public services, including water facilities and public transportation.

6. Labor Laws: Relevant laws will be amended to strengthen workers’ rights.

7. Economic Laws: Move Forward will push for the enactment of the progressive liquor act, bills to collect taxes on large plots of land and from the wealthy, and an amendment to the Fishery Act to support the livelihoods of local fishermen.

8. Environment Laws: The party plans to enact a climate change bill that sets carbon emission limits, striving for Thailand to achieve a net zero goal by 2050. They also intend to amend laws regarding the transportation of toxic substances.

The party said its proposed bills reflect its commitment to promoting reform and addressing key issues in Thailand.

By presenting these bills, the group aims to contribute to the country’s development and meet the expectations of its supporters.

Nothing about weed? Cool. They ought to reform wine taxes with the understanding that wine is a key part of culinary culture.

  • Priorities, lol!    I just hope and pray this party isn't aligned with the woke globalist agenda. If these people are selected by the Davos/WEF crowd then the young Thai voter will be screwe

There ought to be a political party whose sole aim is to drop taxes on imported goods

Sounds very good to me...at last something about airpollution, same sex couples, transparency and more tax for the rich... At last they enter the 21st century

Move Forwards motto is to “demilitarise, demonopolise and decentralise Thailand”.

They have had an awful lot to say about alcohol restrictions and monopolies - expect better wine days ahead.

With point 1 and 2 they will make sure that all the other points will never happen....

If they would do the list bottom up, it would be much better

A flat 30% import duty and everyone can import would be a nice compromise. (I am against any taxes, but as an compromise)

Absolutely...although I think #3 will be the straw that break's the elephant's back. Look what happened to Big Joke when he tried to end corruption. Can't take away all those special brown envelopes...

Taxes on imported goods aren't high...mostly between 0 and 10%...with the exception of alcohol which is very bad

My guess is all will focus on the 112 and pretend to rescue the monarchy.

Much work needs to be done, after the incredible path of destruction, regression, and backwards policy laid down by the dinosaurs, over the past 9 years. Let us hope Thailand can start moving forward. Prayuth almost succeeded in making the once great tiger of SE Asia, into a sickly, anemic, hungry alley cat.

Yes hopefully a drop in tax on wine.

How many Thais drink it?

Isn't it 300% on imported vehicles.

MFP starts very well. Let's hope they are not unhindered.

But I miss one important point - CORRUPTION-fighting. In the past years we have read about corruption cases - especially in the industry sector. Every time I asked myself, how did they book it? And the following idea, why do the tax offices not check the other part, the receivers side, concerning tax fines?

Never have read any word about this. it should be regulated.

Priorities, lol!

I just hope and pray this party isn't aligned with the woke globalist agenda. If these people are selected by the Davos/WEF crowd then the young Thai voter will be screwed yet again for another generation.

Who is this guy Pita Limjaroenrat anyway, and where did he come from all of a sudden? Wikipedia says he's a student of Harvard and MIT which makes him a perfect candidate amongst the globalist elite. I'd suspect the IMF can't wait to offer billions of $$ in loans to ramp up spending and set the stage for large foreign financial corporations to slowly sneak into the Thai economy and start the robbery. Feels like young MFP voters are having their Barack Obama moment, which was a A big trojan horse!

Too early to celebrate, but if the 100-senators doesn't vote him in; there's no way he becomes PM. Plus, the more parties they cooperate with to form a government, the less of these bills comes a reality.

Thailand certainly needs a young fresh leader, but I'm not a fan of someone making useless priorities by putting gay marriage their 2nd top enactment. Plain and stupid!

I don't know how well that will work out for Thailand. But I would love to see it in the USA.

Work Permit and Visa are such a joke...that could be done much simpler without letting in more or less people just doing the process smarter

Correct.

Bhumjaithai have just done exactly that.

Stating they could never join a coalition that would amend 112, they have declined an invitation they never received.

Another one who favors ugly anti LGBT bigotry under the cynical cover of anti woke. Thailand isn't Florida bubba.

Gay marriage and civil rights for transgender Thais are important Thai issues.
