Former Republican Rep. Liz Cheney on Sunday called on graduates to engage in politics and urged them not to waver from the truth, invoking her experience battling against former President Donald Trump’s efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election.

The former Wyoming congresswoman lambasted her former GOP colleagues during a commencement speech at Colorado College, her alma mater.

“After the 2020 election and the attack of January 6th, my fellow Republicans wanted me to lie.

Maybe she ran out of lies justifying the Iraq War during her tenure in the State Dept.

As for principles, I think about Trump she got caught out on a limb and decided there was no way of going back.

  • Popular Post

hahahahahaha, so p*ssed off she was dumped by her state and her party, would do & say anything to stay in power, the sort of person that would stab anyone in their back if she thought it would help her.  What a total joke of a woman and politician, she is definitely more of a dem with all her lies and made up garbage, thought she was something she isnt and never will be and has been caught out with all her lies and innuendo.

More cojones than anyone in the Republican Party..

When the history of Trump’s attack on American Democracy is written, Cheney is not going to be listed with the insurrectionists nor with their enablers.

Why exactly is she "total joke of a woman'?

You mean her lies about the Iraq invasion which she still supports? Can you share with us what policy positions she took, what bills she voted for that were backed by Democrats?

But I do agree with you about her lies. After all, how otherwise could have compiled a record like this?

Liz Cheney Voted With Trump 93 Percent of Her Congressional Career

'“After the 2020 election and the attack of January 6th, my fellow Republicans wanted me to lie. They wanted me to say the 2020 election was stolen, the attack of January 6th wasn’t a big deal, and Donald Trump wasn’t dangerous,” Cheney said. “I had to choose between lying and losing my position in House leadership.”'

Does anyone dispute her claims?  She refused to lie about the election and insurrection and was made an outcast by the Republican Party for telling the truth.

She voted 'party lines' as did most rep.

She was the second biggest loser in any incumbent's re-election of recent times, proving the 'people' didn't want her to represent them.

"Cheney lost the August 16, 2022, Republican primary to pro-Trump candidate Harriet Hageman, with 28.9% of the vote to Hageman's 66.3%. Her margin of defeat was the second-worst for a House incumbent in the last 60 years, behind that of South Carolina Republican Bob Inglis in a 2010 primary runoff."

I disagree with her policy positions on just about everything, but because of her principled opposition to the anti-democracy maga fascist movement, I respect and admire her very very much. What a great American!

  • Popular Post

She didn't leave the republican party.

The republican party went maga fascist and left her.

  • Popular Post

She has integrity a virtue that no  MAGA has a clue what that means. I could vote for her even though I disagree largely about her policy positions.

Don't get carried away. Her policy positions are pretty horrible.

Many are.

But she’s not a fascist.

  • Popular Post

She is a woman of courage and conviction. She is one of the few Republicans at the national level that has any relationship with truth and integrity, and is not afraid of the orange monster. Amazing that a foul creature such as Dick Cheney could have spawned a decent human being.

Absolutely, but a democrat would need to be remarkably atrocious for me to choose her in a general election.

There used to be moderate republicans that a center left democrat could vote for, but they are more or less extinct.

  • Popular Post

She’s a real patriot voice the truth about the biggest con that won the president election. How in gods name I have no idea he did so many bad things when he spoke, you could not count all the lies he did so I praise her she knew she wasn’t gonna be reelected once she started telling the truth about Trump TIT.

  • Popular Post

She stood up to trump because she knew he lied he cheated. He tried to steal the election. She’s the only one in the republican party they had in the balls to stand up to him. All the other politicians are afraid of not being reelected, and let’s see Trump when his third or fourth wife was pregnant with his son. He was busy with a small hands filling up the brass is a porn star then he paid $140,000 to make it Go away now that shows a moral character right when he tries to overturn the election with the fake electoral college people I’m calling the government officials in Georgia requesting for him to find 11,400 votes for the lawyers that he assembled to go around to all the courts to overturn it and they lost everyone I believe he didn’t attend the new presidents inaugural because he’s just a baby. He promised his campaign that he would play. Let’s golf what turns out that he played more golf and all the presidents combined but he complained about Obama playing too much cough. he delays all legal processing against him. He admits taking files they shouldn’t have taken and then on national TV. He said he hopes that they don’t sell the debt problem which is really. Millions of Americans in the restaurant will see that we were paying off your lungs, which would the values in the ass why he would want that to happen his reply was im not president right now? We went to college he never read a book just watch TV and paid people to take his test. Even his own sister said not to vote for him and be the worst thing for America. He didn’t want to go into the army to go to Vietnam, so a podiatrist who rented office space from his father, wrote a note for him. What did the podiatrist get in return? His whole office was remodeled, and he never had to pay rent to his father again go figure that one out he’ll go down in history as the worst president ever.

So she was not a Republican because she refused to lie. I agree with your definition of Republican as liar.

Just one question: do you think there was massive fraud during the 2020 elections and that Trump actually won?

When the GOP steps away from Trump, MAGA and authoritarianism, it’s going to need to go back to traditional Republican policies and values.

Liz Cheney has demonstrated those values remain.

It’s now up to Republican voters to decide how long they want to allow their party to continue on the path to self destruction before bring the party back to where it belongs.
