Koh Samui Residents Can No Longer Tolerate "Odor and Noise" - Requesting Revocation of Cannabis Farm's License

Koh Samui District Public Health Office in Surat Thani Province, Mr. Suriya Cheungchang, the district health officer of Koh Samui, received a complaint letter from Mr. Yotaporn Jitmong, who was affected by the operations of the Green House cannabis cultivation farm.

The farm, consisting of ten greenhouses, is located in the Maenam Soi 3 community of Maenam Subdistrict, Koh Samui District. The letter requested the provincial health department to revoke all licenses related to the cultivation of cannabis on the farm, effectively ceasing its operations in the community, reported Daily News.

According to Mr. Yotaporn, the complaint was filed due to the adverse effects experienced by the local residents and those residing near the cannabis farm. These effects include the strong odor and noise caused by the large and small fans within the cannabis greenhouses that ventilate air from the facilities.

The smell has been a nuisance, while the noise generated by the fans has disrupted the peace during nighttime hours.

Additionally, the bright lights inside the greenhouses have caused disturbances for residents at night. It is worth noting that the community was established prior to the establishment of the cannabis farm.

Mr. Yotaporn further revealed that the villagers had previously filed complaints with the Koh Samui District Justice Center on two occasions. On May 10th, Mr. Chayaporn Intarasupa, the district officer of Koh Samui, visited the farm along with relevant authorities.

The farm owner received a proposal for resolving the issues to alleviate the distress faced by the affected individuals.

The proposed measures included installing light barriers to mitigate the impact of bright lights and operating the large fans from 5:00 PM until morning hours. However, the promised improvements have not been implemented by the cannabis farm owner since that day, prompting the affected villagers to submit another complaint letter to the provincial health department, urging them to intervene.

If the issue remains unresolved, the affected community members intend to escalate the matter by filing a complaint with the government.

Regarding the complaints, Mr. Suriya Cheungchang, the district health officer of Koh Samui, stated that he would present the matter to the provincial health department for further consideration and subsequent referral to the relevant authorities for necessary actions.

if the farm was asked to make improvements and they did not comply. shut them down.

farms need to be mindful of their neighbors.

for example our farm has a carbon filter in every room. plus a 4 foot tall carbon filer drawing air from the entire townhouse out to the roof.

Why ban nipples? ... Oh! Sorry. I think I need to get my eyes tested.

Hopefully this could start a trend of complaining about all that is worth complaining about here in Thailand.

The list is quite long actually.

And certainly this complaint could not even make it in the top 10...

Well, the Khmer Rouge banned them. With extreme prejudice.

No, but a friend secretly stuffed some match head in my joint once. Similar but on a much smaller scale.

That is extremely bright at night.

They can certainly shut the lights off for 6 hours between 2300 and 0500 during veg. Not sure what they do during flowering. Do they get enough darkness if the lights are off from say 1900-0700 the next morning? How do you get enough darkness in a greenhouse, anyway?

Add some carbon filters.

Can't be as bad as late-night karaoke and partiers.

Shouldn't really be news at all, people make complaints all the time about problems with noise.  Only got a mention because it was an excuse to mention "cannabis" ....again        Cannabis,  A gift that just keeps on giving and giving

they can grow auto's which auto flower regardless
you can give autos 18-22 hours of light during flower stage (some do go 24hr but there is no benefit)
but
saying that, looking at the image they do not look like auto's
as auto's flower straight away
and looking at the setup i wouldn't expect these to be around too long
and TBH it would be a bit dumb to have all that free daylight,
then spend money to light all night
and those lights do not look well placed
if they are not auto plants, they still have another 5-6 months before harvest
