I never spent so much money in the beginning with my wife! Next time you know you are taken for a ride, normal girls is ok with a bbq restaurant, and even she brings her friend or two with her, it will never end up more than 1500,- baht. No - we dated for 2 months without physical contact - this was many years ago - you could go out to a place like Tewan Dang in Bkk order plenty of food and beer for 6 people and it was only 1000 baht - more favorable exchange rates then. It was never fancy restaurants and expensive stuff. It was always fun and I enjoyed meeting her friends this way... I was glad to be able to treat them to an enjoyable night out... ps - we are together about 22 years now... I would still be glad to treat any of her friends today. 1 1 1
daveAustin Posted June 19, 2023 Posted June 19, 2023 Don't waste any more of your time regards police. Looks like you got off lightly; if you'd have made it to the hotel with that misfit, would likely be in for a LOT more. Generally not a good idea to go out on the lash before a flight, too, but each to their own. ???? 1 1

Granted, a few serious ones, but mostly scammers. Its a game. The cards are dealt to you and you need to be thinking with your upper brain, not the lower one. The majority of Thai women are predators. You are the predatee. It is a fun game, much like poker. So you need to think with a level head. If the situation sounds to weird and questionable, then pass it up. They designed the rules to game I'm order to deceive you. In the LOFS, lying and deceiving are normal business practices. Get smart, quit taking a hosing. If the situation does not sound right, then it is time to stop. They are the Huntress, you are the Huntee. I never played in the online dating world. From what I hear and read there are just lots of different expectations. If two parties just want to have sex, fine. If someone wants to get paid, also fine, if that is clear from the beginning. If people are looking for a long-term relationship and maybe marry, fine. If people like to go on a night out and then let's look and see, up to them. But if the expectations are different then it obviously becomes difficult. Personally if I want company for a few hours, I go to gogo-bars. There is no misunderstanding what everybody expects. 2 1

The 3k invite should have been a big no thanks Agree with your last sentence (been there). The extra people thingy is usual, although in this case the friends should have appeared upon first meeting. When we met 7 years ago, yes it was out to a Thai restaurant, three of her girl friends and 11 year old Daughter came so ... a meal for six and as is culturally expected I knew I would be paying. As I had done my cultural reading, I knew what to expect and what to be watching for .... Fine experience as I was approved by her group. In fact one cute friend leaned over to her and said, if you don't want him ... I do. Ha! She is 26 years my junior (OK, I am ancient but still!), traditionally raised, no tattoos, etc. Married for several years and happy camper. 3

pomchop Posted June 19, 2023 Posted June 19, 2023 I think a lot of Thai gals on dating sites are familiar with the old PT Barnum quote: "There's a sucker born every minute". 1

She said a table's minimum was 4 people. Which is quite common, if you are not four you still pay for four and get food and drinks for four. If the drinks comes in bottles, you can take the bottle(s) with you home with the remaining drink...???? However, in the present story, it seems like you meet a so-called gold-digger that lost interest in you, when the mine emptied... 1

BritManToo Posted June 19, 2023 Posted June 19, 2023 (edited) My misses used to run a bar/restaurant scam in BK, she said almost every bar or restaurant would participate. She'd enter alone, sit at a table alone with a new bottle of whiskey from the bar. Along would come a Thai guy and ask through a waiter if he could buy her a drink. She'd reply, can he pay for my bottle .......... which would disappear back behind the bar. Then she'd eat and drink at his expense all evening, and the waiter would give her half the cost of the bottle which the bar would then sell again. Edited June 19, 2023 by BritManToo 1 2
