A group of younger teenagers beat an 18-year-old man on Pattaya Beach after he asked them to quiet down.

The group of suspects left the beach prior to the police’s arrival. The incident was reported at half an hour past midnight on Thursday, July 6th, at Pattaya Beach.

The police arrived at the scene and saw the victim, 18-year-old Mr. Shinawatra Nilkasem, lying on a beachmat surrounded by other beachgoers who were helping him. He was transferred to Banglamung Hospital to undergo medical treatment.

Silly for a lone guy to confront a gang of youths.......but not old and wise enough to move on to get away from them.. it's a big enough beach!

They love to do their fighting in groups, don't they?

One on one they would run a mile.

Best not to confront young Thais in a group... just move along the beach to a quieter spot.

They really need to punish these kids who cause fights with more serious charges. If anyone is found they usually just give them a slap on the hand, a small fine and a Wai. Nothing will change until they start putting these dangerous kids in jail. However, they must find them first, and most other Thais don’t want to get involved due to possible backlash.  Get those cameras working and start cleaning up the area.

The group became seemingly angered at Shinawatra’s warning before they briefly left the beach only to return with 10 other teens.

We would expect nothing else. Just part of the culture.

The police are 'brain storming' how to prevent this spate of similar crimes, Try Foot Patrols. ouch my brain just stormed. How would closing venues early prevent these crimes?

Yep, cops doin a bang up job. Wasn't that cop (with escorts) goin around Walking St etc other day to somehow show area safe for tourists.

Should fire all the cops and start from ground zero. As useful as teats on a boar

He asked them to lower their voices? Their voices? On a sparsely populated beach? After midnight? Not victim blaming here, but that wasn't a smart move. My rule of thumb: don't make noise complaints after the sun goes down. Too high a probability drugs and alcohol are being consumed and reaction to the complaint too unpredictable. Should have picked up his beach mat and moved down the beach.
