A little known fact about Japanese here. They don't promote women and they don't promote non Japanese. My dear super awesome wifey was the only non Japanese woman in Thailand who ever got promoted, however she hit a ceiling and wasn't going anywhere.

 

So, last year she gave them the finger, put her resume on LinkedIn and got hired by US/Euro company and works from home.

 

In fact she is working right now in another room in her birthday suit.

There is a gentleman rule in Thailand to never ask what someones gf or wife worked with before you met! 

 

And to be true, no one of those I frequently hang out with or meet up with, have ever asked one time what my wife did before we meet, unless I say it in a context where it is natural to add.

Mine was a junior accountant at the montien hotel salary then was 12000 baht per month , now she is a fully qualified cpa who heads the finance dept of a japanese multinational accounting firm making 210000 baht per month
