Linked story added:

"It was also unclear how long he had been overstayed or how he was caught and arrested".

It's not "unclear" how he was caught and arrested.........normally when you leave,  they run your name...(duh!)...it's not rocket science!

He actually did all the work for them!!

It was a waste of time going to the enclosed link as no further information of any merit is available there.

Obviously must be more than meets the eye, it's a long time since I was in Phuket, but if they have allowed him to get all the way to the international departure gate, and not stopped him at immigration, have they discovered something more serious?

Well, I don't think they are taking him back to a resort or hotel.

So when the Immigration Officer 'told' them, they didn't think to ask the suspect's name, age or how long he had overstayed for.

Stick to running bars in Sin City.

Not much info. How long was the overstay? This is usually revealed immediately. Regardless :1zgarz5:

Maybe the departure lounge is more secure and enclosed than being able to run around the airport and out the door ?

Something wrong here, they usually make a song and dance about how many days O/S

Perhaps he paid for his overstay when he went to immigration counter for exit stamp. It seems they had changed mind and came after him to the gate.

You didn't think to think that perhaps the police weren't revealing the full story when asked?

No,  you missed the point, they weren't asked.

Did I?  How do you know that they weren't asked?

Because if they were asked, there would be answers to the questions.

All you're doing is showing how inexperienced you are.

Well of course it would be if its an international departure lounge as opposed to a domestic.
