I do not think it is a sense of entitlement. I think it is a reflection of the current culture. It was destroyed over a century of callous and murderous leadership. Stalin, Lenin, Khruschev, now Putin. They have become somewhat savage and crude. No grace, no finesse, no courtesy. Rather uncivilized.

I lived and worked in Siberia for five years, I enjoyed my time there, Russians aren't uncivilised, crude savages, far from it.

I know exactly where this happened now it's just been on TV, out the back of Central Florista outside the new 7/11 there, when they shot him with the tasers he hit the deck like a bag of <deleted>

We need a photo of you pointing at the exact spot, please

Congratulations on the Quality Tourist line, thought it would have been missed for a change.

I assume you disagree, then?

A bit of a generalised comment. There’s good and bad everywhere.

Fact is: it seems that Thailand is a magnet attracting all scumbags from all countries.

Even Japanese, who are normally well-behaved in other countries, happen to behave like s*** here...

Some troll and overly derogatory posts removed also replies

I love these Russian Berzerkers! I still remember the muzhik who destroyed a 7-11 on walking street in Pattaya a few months ago. He started off by headbutting his motorcycle driver!

You'd be mentally disturbed too if you grew up in the hell-hole that is Ruzzia

It is quite possible we simply do not understand Russians, due to their outward appearance of rudeness, unhappiness, grumpiness and a cold, stoic nature. Granted, they were subject to alot of brutality in their past. But, the cultural differences are vast.

This misconstrued bluntness causes resentment if a person is not used to it. What ought to be kept in mind, however, is that in most cases direct Russians don’t mean to hurt, they are merely satisfying their curiosity.

Even if an inappropriate question lands your way, play it cool and remember an observation made by a savvy Irishman living in Moscow: “Russians are more accepting of bad moods. You're allowed to be grumpy in public here, and I've learned not to always take it personally if someone is rude to you. They're just not used to pretending they're in a good mood.”

A cultural stereotype that has developed in Russia: People who for no reason smile at strangers may turn out to be insincere (the smile is perceived as ingratiating) or stupid. There is even a saying in Russia, which many foreigners find hard to understand: "Laughter without reason (laughter and a smile are close in Russian culture) is a sign of stupidity."

Ponomaryov attributes this caution to "the events that took place in the history of our country." According to him, since Russians often had to deal with external aggression (either from other nations or from each other), they have developed a habit of not wearing one's heart on one's sleeve and of being wary of strangers.

Russians:- are you taking note?  Clean up your act.. you do not own Thailand..

Don´t give them ideas..

Back in 90-s. Khaosarn Rd. Bangkok. Weird looking farang was offering half-opened shampoo, wipes, chewing gum (whatever he found there) for pocket change.

Dressed like a village idiot, barely talking. Painted face.

Absolutely harmless beggar. 30-60 y.o. Could not figure it out.

Turned out he was a German businessman who was beaten by police and thrown to klong, but survived. Unfortunately his mind didn't recover and he became a Khaosarn's freak.

There are many stories about police brutality in LOS, even now 2023: 10 against 1.

Don't care victim's ethnicity: russian, proud european of another indian apache.

Sorry but smashing up cars is just sheer vandalism to me and should be sent to the Bangkok Hilton

Send him to Bang Kwang Bangkok Hilton for 10 years. But first let him pay the damage he caused.

I think that all Russians are gloomy because of their tough women.

some years ago in Singapore that young lad vandalized a few cars, didn't he get 10 lashes?

Yes, Michael Fay was punished over a period of several weeks or months with six lashes if I remember correctly, I was living there at the time.

Likely a reflection of a very, very rough culture and environment.

Akin to why it was deemed necessary to issue the Chinese "guidelines" on how to behave when abroad ?

He was either getting in some practice before he returns, or maybe thought if he did enough damage he wouldn't be sent back (jail in Thailand might be more survivable than the front line in Russia)

He will not be going anywhere pay the damage and maybe the fine.then escorted to the airport and be banned to enter thailand.Or enjoy the pleasures of the monkey house

You've met all 144,000,000 of them to come to that conclusion...?  ????

In a case like this, the geezer should have to pay for all the damage caused before leaving the country.

Fined for the hassle, then sent back to where he came from........:guitar:
